The most caring, committed doctor I've had to deal with. A legend.

I met dr Smith after an accudent in ski for my knee and had a great experience with him. He is caring, passionate and very knowledable. Through examination he immediately diagnosed that I have torn my ACL. I did the MRI couple of weeks later that showed the same. He called me to discuss the MRI results with me and met me couple of times even though he was on leave. Appreciate his manner and dedication. Coupke of years ago my husband was suffering from a fall and had pain in his lower back for two years. Dr smith was the one who could eventually diagnose that it is his labrum and treated him. He is a top notch dr and I am very greatfull to know him.

Awful experience! He never really diagnosed or suggested anything for my injury. He recklessly overprescribed pain meds continuing to have me trek to his office for refills without any actual treatment. After many months of ramping up pain medication when I wanted to safely stop takin them he referred me to his ski buddy who wanted to put me on methadone.

Contrary to the other Dr. at UBC Sports Medicine Clinic, my appointment with Dr. Lloyd-Smith is nothing but thorough and helpful. He took the time to listen, examine, order imaging to further investigate, and also refer me to an specialist physio. He also provided a time frame for me to follow up with him, unlike the previous Dr. I had seen there who totally left you hanging.

Dr. Lloyd Smith is a fabulous doctor. As a patient who is not an athlete I was referred to him by my GP for chronic back pain. Each visit he took the time to listen and provide meaningful advice. He treats patients like real human beings and is very knowledgeable.

Dr. Lloyd-Smith is very approachable. He is professional and takes the time to actually listen to his patients. He is not rushing or trying to get rid of you in order to move on with the next patient. Best doctor I had in BC.

By far the best sports medical doctor there is. When I hurt my knee none of my trainers could figure out what it was, and Dr. Lloyd-Smith knew immediately. Cares about his patients and helps to get them MRI images and surgeon appointments quick and efficiently. Very caring and a great human being.

He is absolutely terrific. Genuinely cares and takes the time to assess your problems. Gives excellent advice and isn't arrogant, but very humble. Went out of his way to help me and for that I owe him a lot. Definitely recommend Dr. Lloyd-Smith! Staff isn't very organized, and don't call for appointment reminders prior which I find silly since most of the time you're waiting weeks upon weeks for an appointment at the sports medicine center. They have an easy job that much I'll say..

UBC Sport Medicine has an awful reputation and Dr. Lloyd Smith lives up to that. This clinic seems primarily concerned with attending to varsity athletes who are 23 years old. As a then, 40 year old businessman who is athletic and active but with a separated triceps who had been referred to the clinic, Dr. Lloyd Smith confirmed one's greatest fears about the waste and mismanagement of the BC and Canadian medical system. Dr. LS was quite dismissive of the fact that I had a separated tricep and for a guy "my age" I would need to "deal with it." It was a battle to even have a consult with the surgeon, at first I was told there was a ridiculously long wait, then told for perhaps a certain cash payment the list could be shortened. My eyeballs bugged out and he seemed to perhaps feel I was not the best person to say this to, and suddenly a "spot opened up." What a farce. Should not be a public clinic. I know of other people who have gone to this clinic experienced similar.
