I have been seeing Dr. Bains for five years after my cancer diagnosis. She is very knowledgeable but more importantly she is open and willing to listen to the patient. I chose some alternative therapies as well as chemo and even if she disagreed, she would simply give me her opinion and allow me to choose as an adult. I never felt belittled by her and at times she was very open-minded to anything new that I had discovered. She is often late for appointments but that's because she's giving the patients before me as much time as they need with her, which to me equals excellent treatment. I'm not one who loves doctors in general but for me she's five stars. Bless her!

I'm happy to hear some people had a good experience with this Dr. I did not, Dr Bains was impatient with my questions, I felt as though I was nothing more then a stat in her file. I'm grateful to have found a different Oncologist, I now feel heard, this makes a big difference.

I have had the pleasure of reviewing more than a few of this onc's patient records and I can say without doubt she stands above and beyond the vast majority of oncologist in Canada and clearly goes to bat for her patients by incorporating the latest in precision oncology.

Dr Bains was my oncologist. She is knowledgeable without being didactic. She is willing to have a conversation and listen to your experience: collaborative, compassionate, caring. I could not have asked for a better doctor.

I went to Dr. Bains for a PET Scan. She charged me $500 for a phone call that did not result in a PET appointment. I found my own appointment & relied on her for the results. She wanted me to wait 2 weeks & then pay another $500 to get the results even though she had them! This was unconscionably cruel, or greedy, or both.

She takes time to answer my many questions, she is understanding, knowledgeable… just all around what you want and need when you head the dreaded words.
