Dr. Choy was the rheumatologist that diagnosed my condition appropriately and we started biologics. Within days, my symptoms and improved and I can walk again! It is hard to get a hold of the receptionist, and sometimes he does run quite behind his appointment as he gets called to internal medicine dept.

Dr. Choy needs to find a replacement admin. The current admin seldom answers the telephone and there is no point leaving a voice mail message as she does not return calls. Extremely frustrating!!
I have received two "Patient Itinerary" forms in two separate mailings for the same appointment date. What a waste of time and money. I have been requested by the admin to call the office 5 business days to confirm this appointment. Really - why is the admin not following up - I am the patient and not staff. Requests for prescription renewals by the pharmacy appear to be ignored unless followed up by the patient with an e-mail directly to Dr. Choy. This has occurred more than once. From speaking with two other patients - one, Dr. Choy, one Dr. Sandhu they are having the same problem with voice mail call backs or the admin. answering the phone. Dr. Sandhu's patient mentioned to me that prescription renewal is a major issue. Please consider the admin take time management courses or organizational skills.

Put family member on wrong medication. After reactions, he would not allow us to get a second opinion, and when we did so was very vindictive and unpleasant even though it clearly brought relief. Feel that he is also racist and cruel, do not recommend trusting this doctor with your health.

As a long time patient of Dr Choy, I disagree with the comments here. He is very knowledgeable in his field and diagnosed me with a rare condition accurately, and has been helping me manage my symptoms with proper treatment for about 10 years now. Sometimes, he may run behind schedule because it is a teaching hospital, but the wait is always worth it!

I am still in shock of what he did, my mom was in Sunnybrook and in her discharge day he supposed to fax the prescription. when I went to pick the medications up I noticed he prescribe a medication that my mom never took, two months earlier in NYGH they ordered that but my mom never took it! it seem she just faxed a two months old prescription without even checking her chart! when I called hospital his resident talked to Dr Choy and he mentioned if she does not take that medication don't take it!! it's not a big deal... it's not acceptable to order a wrong medication and expect patient be OK with that! he even told the resident my mom was taking the medication and she was feeling better after taking that!!!!!!!!! even hospital staff jaw dropped when I told them that! my mom was not taking any medication in her first month in hospital, when I got to hospital D2 manager asked him to call me but he never called.
this kind of mistakes are not acceptable, if I was not taking care of my mom, pharmacy would give it to her and she would take it! trusting someone who named a DOCTOR... and that could cost her life..

He seemed friendly at first but then I was surprised when I heard him speaking very badly, lying to an older relative of mine about a treatment, pretending a drug is going to help them and not being honest with the side effects.

Questionable ethics, shady communication. Can be a little on vindictive side if he perceives you would like a second opinion, even when it's clear he is not an expert in the relevant field.

Lacks integrity and knowledge and shows shallow understanding. As a result, poor, substandard level of care, and careless prescription errors.
