You might wait for a bit but what you're really waiting for is the bedside manner. He treats every patient extremely well and that takes time. The hospital was extremely excellent and all of my needs and questions were met with no problems!

Dr. Tankel is so knowledgeable, and pleasant to deal with. Staff were very nice also and even though I would have waited all day to see him, I was in to see him within the hour. of my appointment.

Dr.Tankel has been my Dr for 25 years. He is compassionate, and understands the female anatomy thoroughly. If it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t be as comfortable as I am today. As for punctuality I understand the kind of Dr he is, and I accept his scheduling.

Always late. Cancels appointments without notifying. Doesn't explain things well. not helpful bedside manner. Appointment feels rushed. Understand doc may have to pop in to hospital for another patient but we should be notified if waiting 3 hours for appt.

It sounds like Dr. Tankel either bonds with you or doesn't, based off of these reviews. Much like a therapist, if you are seeing him in office and don't vibe with him, change doctors!
For anyone who doesn't understand how having a baby works, particularly at the Alex: their doctors change shifts twice a day. They are divided into two teams, that include an OB, 1-2 Residents, and 1-2 med students. If you want your doctor to deliver you, you need to be low risk, go with a family doctor who has privileges at a hospital, and be assigned to them, not the PCN. Dr Jacobs is a great doctor who works this way, he has an office in Morinville.

Dr. Tankel runs LATE. Call his office before you leave your house and have them tell you when to come. Do not have any appointments to go to after him. Contact his office and vouch for them to have a pager system- they're in the mall, people should be able to walk around and be either paged or called on their phone when the person they're behind in line goes into a room.

In my appointments, he has been funny, caring, and thorough. Like all western medicine doctors, there are going to be times when you are right, and he is wrong. Advocate for referrals or treatments that you need- it is very difficult to find a genius doctor who is taking patients in this province.

Dr Tankel has been my OB for almost 14 years now. Yes waiting time is long but it's worth it. He has emergency at the hospital that comes up I totally understand. Sometimes you deliver and he is not at the hospital because it's not his shift that day. He can't go to deliver every patient when it's not his work hours. He has family too. He deliver 2 of my 4 kids and he know his job and how to reassure his patient. We love you Dr Tankel and wish you a long and healthy life to keep the amazing job you are doing ❤

I saw Dr. Tankel when I was in University, he was working out of the U of A clinic as the only gyno at the time. Not only was he four hours late, but during the appointment he instructed me to watch what he was doing with a mirror, and suddenly pushed a q tip into a painful area without warning. I flinched, as the area had been painful for a few days, and was met with "see, you flinched, this is likely psychological". I was completely speechless from the comment and behaviour, and shut down for the rest of the appointment. If I knew how to file a complaint, I would have done so. DO NOT SEE, AVOID.

Well, beside the awfully long waiting time, for both pregnancies he did not show up at the hospital! He said I have a family and I can not show up at the hospital anytime!!! How about not filling your schedule with too many patients so you can do the job because as long as I know, doctors always go to the hospital in these cases. It's part of the job. The doctor who was supposed to fill his absence had his own patient and I was left with that useless intern. She did nothing other than watching me! A like hell experience with severe postpartum issues. The second time, again with an intern but this time the guy was actually good. He was doing the job rather than fixing his glasses and breathing with me! You can understand how stressful it is for a woman to go through her labor without her doctor or even a qualified doctor. If I ever decide to have a child again I will never go to Dr. Tankel.

I absolutely adore Dr.Tankel. He has been my OB for years now first with IUD’s and now both of my children.
For the people who talk about tardiness he works so hard But surgeries come up and it’s not something a dr can plan so yes he can run behind but his knowledge, bedside manner, and professionalism are incredible. I will be sad when he’s no longer my doctor because I find him refreshingly honest and straight to the point. His dad jokes help too! Haha.
