Dr. Sanchez and Dr. Sadeem are both excellent doctors, and I am grateful to be treated by him. My lupus has been under control with their care. I started seeing Dr. Sanchez after my long-time doctor, Dr. Lee, had sadly passed away. However, I followed Dr. Lee's advice and I am in great hands.

Absolutely terrible doctor. He's been following me at TWH for a few years and always says my lupus is under control and there's no need to change my medicaion. This is all despite the obvious physical signs of lupus and elevated bloodwork. He's very arrogant and prideful. If you disagree with him or get a second opinion he will walk out and tell you to go to the other doctor. The appointments with him last less than 5 minutes and they're basically useless for me. I'm unable to change doctors because everyone is either scared of him or they think he's a really good doctor, which he's not. I'm stuck with him now and I don't know what to do.
I don't know how he got to be head of Rheumotology it's so confusing.

I’m not even sure how he has a medical license. I don’t understand any of the positive reviews. If you’re reading this now and thinking ‘well some doctors are good but have negative reviews!’ That is absolutely not the case with Dr. Sanchez. First off, he didn’t even see me himself. I had the entirety of the appointment with a fellow, who to her credit was lovely, and then he came in at the very end to ruin the entire experience. I have been diagnosed with lupus already by two separate doctors, I was just hoping to get more wholistic care by being treated at a hospital. He walks into the room, barely takes a look at me or speaks to me, and then proceeds to tell me I don’t have lupus and I can just go home. I said what?? What about the positive lab results, my worsening symptoms, and the diagnosis of two separate lupus specialized physicians? He said it ‘must be something else’ and that was all. Not even a follow up plan on ‘Okay, if it wasn’t lupus, then what was it?’ And he calls himself a rheumatologist! Avoid him at all costs, he might have just ruined my chances at receiving adequate care at all, because he said he’ll be writing a letter to my family doctor saying ‘they’re fine’. If I didn’t have such faith in my family doctor to call bs and continue seeking care for me, I would be absolutely devastated right now. Honestly outrageous. Even the fellow who had seen me was arguing with him on what he had been saying! She tried to chime in and mention my symptoms and results and he shushed her! A mannequin dressed in a lab coat would have provided better care than him. A disgrace and a mockery to the hospital, who I have otherwise had positive experiences with. Again, avoid at all costs!!!

First of all I must say that some of the reviews here are extremely misleading to anybody who goes for the first time.My previous doctor who retired referred me to Dr.Sanchez saying that he wants me to be in good hands once he's gone. When I was referred to Dr.Sanchez I was somewhat worried and hesitant after reading those extremely negative nasty comments. But when I met him everything flipped.Dr.Sanchez is a very kind hearted, gentle, very welcoming , respectful and a very caring doctor. He had lots of concerns regarding my health condition. He put me through lots of testing regarding almost all the concerns I had.He explained everything to me very well and I was given an opportunity and ample time in the end to ask any questions If I may have. All my concerns were taken in to consideration. He was very patient with me and answered all my questions. His expertise, personal qualities , professionalism , work ethics and the realizations I was having as I was going through my following appointments gave me lots of confidence ,hope and peace of mind and there is no doubt about it at all. Also I should add here that his whole team at Mt.Sinai clinic consists of very respectful ,kind and amazing staff.I feel it is such a blessing to be in the care of this kind of doctors.

Dr. Jorge Sanchez-Guerrero belongs in jail. He is a disgrace to the rheumatology field of medicine. My wife has had lupus since she was 16. She had an extremely caring, devoted, dedicated and detail oriented doctor for years until he moved to another city. Unfortunately she was then paired with Sanchez. For nearly 10 years, he did not care to bring my wife to remission. He maintained status quo with his treatment plan despite consistent flares. For 3 years, he completely ignored what was later determined to be lupus nephritis (kidney involvement). When we looked back in the lab data, it was obvious given the persistent protein present in her urinalysis. Sanchez negligently ignored this, or completely missed it (which I find it hard to believe as the lab report automatically flags out of range results). All he had to do was simply refer her to a Nephrologist. He never did that. When we finally saw one, it was confirmed she had lupus nephritis with a kidney biopsy. Sanchez continued to deny there was anything wrong with her kidneys. For this reason we left his care and are now in the amazing hands of a new team of doctor who's collective goal is to bring my wife to remission and control her nephritis. Shes on her way there, but it will be a long road to remission, but at least she is receiving the attention and new medications required to get her there. Had we never been our own advocates, Sanchez would have continued to ignore this for years, perhaps until it was too late. I hate this man, because, he simply could not acknowledge his errors and apologize. If this man is your doctor, do not take his word for granted. Be your own advocate. Look at your data results. Challenge him. Don't rely on his errant judgement.

He's my doctor and I'm happy with the care I get, I feel healthy and happy. I love that he teaches residents and that at each appointment I have two eyes on me, not one. In person they are late at least an hour but I don't mind, it means they are teaching and prioritizing the care of others more sick than me. It is as it should be. I bring my phone and watch a show. His secretary Cami is wonderful too. One thing I wish they would do is give more education on lifestyle with lupus. I find way too many of my acquaintances with lupus follow strange restrictive diets and I've never been counselled on diet or exercise.

Is this guy's credentials even real??, through his lack of knowledge and total disregard and mismanagement of my daughters lupus condition for over a decade, I have almost lost my daughter only with God's grace she is alive today but I did lose my first granddaughter. What a reminder especially today on Mother's Day. Does he even have a clue what it does to people when he plays with their lives, and causes such a loss, grief, and pain that could have been avoided. It's a real shame that there is no accountability and he doesn't have to answer to no one.

I see Dr. Sanchez-Guerrero since 2012 at Mount Sinai and always had very good care from him. the only thing I dont like is talking to the resident students before seeing him, as most of them dont read my chart and I have to go over my entire medical history every time I go for an appointment.

I have been under this doctors care for 10 + years now. Throughout the years, I didn't really know what was going on with my lupus. I was always flaring but was led to believe I was "controlled." About 2 years ago I asked Dr. Sanchez if it was ok for me to get pregnant, I wanted to make sure I had a safe and healthy pregnancy. Fast forward to the end of 2020, I was 23 weeks pregnant and suddenly developed severe preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome which almost killed me and unfortunately took the life of my first child. Since this ordeal I am under the care of a nephrologist, who said that I had kidney involvement early on even before my pregnancy. I had no idea, but once I went thru all my labs from years before I saw levels to confirm that something was happening to my kidneys. When I asked him about this, he denied I had any kidney involvement and that referring me to a kidney specialist was not needed. I'm still investigating the matter but he doesn't answer any of my questions and brushes off all of my concerns. He has no regard for how this has affected my life. Its sad and scary that he is practicing and teaching residents as well.

This guys seems to have no knowledge of anything. A dog in a doctor's costume could provide better care than this guy. I ended up having to switch doctor's because I had enough. He couldn't even answer my basic question about lupus or medication.
