I enjoyed my first consult with Dr. McGhie today and feel most fortunate to have been referred to him. He is kind and emphatic - an excellent listener, ready to share from his abundant knowledge and experience. I feel in very good hands and look forward to working with Dr. McGhie.

I have been Dr McGhie’s patient since April, 2022 and have found him to be a knowledgeable and supportive doctor. He speaks to me respectfully while relaying, at times, tough information. He always takes the time to listen and answer any questions, even though I am sure he is pressed for time.

I would not recommend this doctor because he is condescending and does not honour patient requests. With major reservations my wife agreed to chemotherapy, but we requested that he give her a much lower dose due to her issues with reactions to any type of drug or chemicals in the past. We found out after she almost died with in the first few weeks of treatment that he administered the full dosage. Then he approached me after she barely survived the initial treatment and recommended she should start another round of treatment at half the dose. My wife went from 135 to 95 lbs in a few weeks and I could not believe he recommended more treatment as it was obvious that she was to ill to survive. Never mind the fact that he failed to honour our request for the first treatment to be a half dose. I looked him in the eyes and said, would you recommend this treatment for your wife? He would not reply. My wife died within 2 1/2 months of his initial treatment. So sad that he does not respect the directions of patients and feels he knows better.

Literally the worst and left me as a sitting duck, spent 2 years battling stage 4 breast cancer only for it to spread like wildfire throughout my body because he DID NOT listen to me and my concerns and relentlessly telling him that my cancer is aggressive, 2 months waiting around for treatment from him only to be told that this is my only option and that if it fails I'm going to die. I have a young toddler and this is NOT the type of treatment I expected to receive. I highly recommend anyone who has the option to change oncologist to do so because he doesn't know anything about what he's doing, I never got updated on anything and practically was left on my couch to die.. I will never forgive him for his non chalant no care attitude.

He is definitely the best out of my seemingly endless army of doctors. I am always happy to see or hear from him, and he is always optimistic without sugarcoating things.

Does not take time to inform the patient of cancer (understanding what and how cancer forms is not something most people know) the ensuing issues, indications and preventative measures. Somewhat dismissive, detached. Unable to speak directly to his knowledge.

Don’t go see him if you have a brain tumour. He misinformed me about 2 different chemo treatments, and I basically lost a year of my life. I’ll never forgive him for that.

It has been eight years since Dr. McGhie treated my husband for Stage III colon cancer and we still think of him regularly with gratitude for all that he did to help my husband return to good health. Dr. McGhie is kind, empathic, knowledgeable and an excellent communicator. A good doctor and a good human being.

Dr Mcghie did not explain my treatment options. He just wanted me to do chemo, never mind that chemo wouldn't work for highly hormone + bc. Never followed up after surgery, never discussed my lab results, and never explained my cancer to me. Never told me there was an 18 month waitlist to see a plastic surgeon. I believe he just wanted to check all the boxes off on my case for following BC Cancer Agency protocols (chemo, rads & endocrine therapy & out the door -good luck to ya). He did not return my calls. My husband had to finally rattle the staff's cages to get him to return my call. If your complaint about care and your case than this is a good doctor for you.
