Yes, he is blunt. Maybe even a little rude at times ... but you have probably just failed the urine drug screen or have not taken his advice seriously. This man know what he is doing and you can feel free to question his decisions, but all of my questions have been answered by a heart and soul that cares about the future of his patients and their ability to begin to enjoy life again.
Opiate addiction and "discontinuation" is obscenely painful, and these addicts are not coming from the street. They are coming from other doctors, trained and told by salesforce to doll out the newest, strongest and most addictive substances the pharmaceutical market can come up with. So you have to take one every day and you need more and more over time ... and they make more money. How do I figure this? I am a specialized honours degree drug chemist and consultant for the pharma industry . This is large corporate business, my business.
Dr. Mark doesn't believe in this business model and is very strict when your under his care. Am I am addict, yes, by choice of my Doctors. Do I take opiates, benzos and amphetamines? Yes, for a horrible mental disorder. Do I need to see Dr. Mark every 2 weeks to a month, no, I don't.
I choose to because if my recovery goes off a bit, he is the first one to notice .... and say something he will! It may come across as rude, but it is not from a rude person or place. It is from a experienced and knowledgeable man that cares about your health and quality of life, and probably more than you realise.
Dr. Mark, thank you for being a part of my care and recovery/management.
