I saw Dr Bentley in 2012 for an abnormal lump found by my GP. He wrongly diagnosed this as ovarian fibroids and told me to come back if it got bigger. A few months passed and it got bigger so I went to see him again. I am writing this review 12 years later because what he told me still rings in my head. I told him my “fibroid” was really bugging me because it grew significantly (probably a grapefruit now) and he told me “you know your life is good when your fibroid is bothering you.” It was ovarian dysgerminoma and was eventually removed by the time it grew to a cantaloupe in size. But that comment still makes me fume. Bedside manner in 2012 was horrible.

Having seen Dr. James Bently on news today reminded me of how grateful I am to have had such a excellent surgeon perform my surgery in 2010 .My life changed forever and after 10 rounds of Chemo at the Cape Breton Cancer Center under Dr. Ron McCormack's excellent proactive approach to treatment, I am experiencing an awesome life.Sincere thanks to both Dr. James Bently And Dr. Ron McCormack for their excellent care. Both rate 10 stars.

I’ve been seeing Dr Bentley for 12+ years now. From pregnancy to cancer concerns. Perhaps the only criticism I have is the provincial system as it takes a very long time to move through the system both on my visits in office and the times from biopsies to surgery. If our physicians weren’t so overworked and limited in numbers I think the care would be superior and our lives and our families lives would benefit. Additionally, I experienced poor communication between specialists and doctors resulting in negative consequences to my care and treatment. Bedside manner with Dr Bentley is definitely 5 stars... just a little too rushed... I sure hope the province intervenes for the sake of doctors and patients in Nova Scotia. Excellent specialist in a sub par system.

I had a TAH BSO surgery for suspected ovarian cancer. The surgery was performed on a Monday. I was discharged that Wednesday afternoon. Dr . Bentley is a compassionate and brilliant surgeon. Dr. Matei, a resident in gyne oncology, shares his qualities. The nursing team loves him. Need I say more? I am waiting for the results of the biopsies. Regardless of the outcome, I know that I am in great hands.

Had to see Dr. James Bentley as my surgeon is out of the office until May. When I called to booked, I was put in right away. I was nervous as he was new to me...once in the office my mind was put at ease. He was so understanding, very patient and extremely knowledgeable. His nurse was amazing.
