I was referred to Hamilton McMaster to see Specialist for problem Dr. Richardson couldn’t correct. No progress came from numerous visits but I trusted Dr. Richardson which was wrong. She then changed my diet which liquified the daily severe repeated diarrhea episodes. Referred me to another specialist who didn’t read my referral. Left there in tears. Finally after years of run around to other Drs, I was referred to Toronto General where a simple Ultrasound located my severed sphincter was cause of problem. When I asked for copies of my medical files, Dr. Richardson mailed me a bill. Stay away from this woman as her medical objective is money!

I am going to miss Dr. Richardson like mad. She had a wonderful way of making things plain to her patients. I admire her dedication to politics and her women patients. One of my favorite doctors EVER. Saw her for years. She always called and/or wrote me personal messages and called personally to review tests by phone. She politically believed that we have 100 per cent decisions over our own bodies. Always did my liver biopsies and colonoscopies. Whereas other doctors took three or four tries on my liver biopsies she always got it on first go. Chatted about books while she did my procedures. LOVED her.on MY health and c.c.'d my other doctors. You were in charge of your care. She was intelligent, friendly and had a wonderful dry wit.

Our daughter was referred to her some years ago for Crohn's disease. She cancelled TWO appointments even though our daughter was in great pain. The reason: to fight a political fight against a sensible merger of her hospital with another one. Her interest lay more in income and politics than medical care.

I have had great experiences with all kinds of specialists. Dr. Richardson is the exception. I found her demeanour utterly bizarre and inappropriate on two occasions. At one visit she lectured me for about 10 minutes about how the government shouldn't be capping specialists' salaries and how she and other doctors would effectively be going on strike in the summer once they reached their limits. I was extremely irritated that we were not talking about MY HEALTH, the reason for my visit. At a second visit, a follow-up appointment after an endoscopy, Dr. Richardson was rude and sarcastic to me, blaming me for my persistent symptoms. It was unbelievable. I confronted her like one would confront a bully and she changed her tune immediately. I was appalled by her behaviour and shaking with anger when I left her office. I considered making a complaint at the CPSO. She's retired now I believe.

Dr. Richardson is the best in her field. I have been her patient for years and she has been consistently caring, professional, and extremely competent. She has always gone above and beyond what was required, and made sure any pain was minimized. I will miss her a great deal.

Dr. Richardson literally saved my life many years ago and diagnosed me with a rare chronic pancreatitis that was missed by another top GI doctor for 3 1/2years who told me I had IBS and to take tranquilizers. I am indebted to her for my life since I was 93lbs and dying of malnutrition etc. However communication issues can be difficult with her.

I had a procedure recently, I was told i would be sedated to the point I wouldnt be asleep but i wouldnt be aware. During and throughout the whole hour long procedure, (she says should have taken 20mins), I cried and begged for them to stop, they doubled up the meds but i was wide awake and feeling every bit of it. My body fought back and my pain now is bad enough I will see my MD tomorrow and also my lawyer. I begged her to stop and she just said, "control my emotions" and, "everything will be fine", as she continued to further advance the endoscope up my rear end. It hurt so bad I wanted to die, I cant believe this happened and after she said nothing was wrong, she stopped when I asked and they took an hour rather then 20mins as normal. I was awake, I could feel every minute of the agony, she never took it out, not even when i begged. May she retire in peace and make no one else suffer as I did today. Dr, today was just wrong, you had no right! signed Soreguy

Worst doctor ever! She should have her license pulled. Not only is she rude and hostile, her procedures are barbaric! I went through a procedure that made me worse, so bad my surgeon had to order tests to make sure she didn't do permanent damage! Was there for a second opinion and she couldn't give me one, I was told to ask my current doctors. She said to be retiring, couldn't come soon enough!

I too do not have anything nice to say about this woman. She did not want to hear my pre-existing symptoms nor did she care to hear what my family doctor and suggested the problem was - her response, 'I'll be the judge of that' ...as she rolled her eyes at me. After the procedure was done and I asked her about the causes of my ibs - her response...'well just don't eat those foods. You need to lose weight anyway!' If this doesn't tell you what kind of a nasty woman she is than....good luck to you!.
