I have been seeing Dr Lam for 10+ years, and now take my children to her as well. Her entire office staff have always been exceptionally curteous, pleasant, and professional. I have always felt that my teeth were in good hands, with decisions made based on the health of my teeth, unlike other dentists I've been too that constantly want to change fillings and recommend other aggressive treatments even when I've had no problems. Dr Lam, on the other hand, feels like an honest, genuine dentist whose interest is to protect the health of your teeth, not gouge your pocket book!

I have been a patient of Dr.Lam for 4 years now now and have had nothing but wonderful experiences each and every time, from reception to Dr. Lam explaining every procedure, why and with options.She restored substandard work that had been done in the past to the fantastic filling restoration in my lastest visit , at age 62 I have my 20 year old smile back

I've been seeing Dr.Lam since she took over this practice from Dr.Sherry. Dr.Lam has a wonderful team of people that do everything they can to make your visit a positive experience. I would recommend Dr.Lam to anyone looking for a dentist in New Westminster or surrounding areas.

I'm shocked to see that there could be negative reviews about Dr. Lam. My entire experience with her and her team has been nothing but top notch.
I've been seeing her for 2 years now and will still continue to even though I've moved out of New West! She's hands down the best dentist I've had (and I'm comparing her to... 6 other dentists that I've seen in the past?)

After trying multiple dentist for years around the lower mainland, I've finally found a "home" at Uptown Family Dental. The entire staff at Uptown Dental are professional, welcoming, helpful and Dr. Lam is extremely knowledgeable and devoted to her craft. For the first time in a while, I fell as though I'm getting the proper treatment and not just treated based on what my maximum insurance coverage is. Since coming to uptown Dental, I've had multiple cleanings, fillings and fitted for a mouth guard, which has relieved years of jaw pain. Each treatment was thoroughly explained and went off without any complications. I’ve recommended Dr. Lam to all my friends and I’m sure I’ll be receiving some thank you’s for doing so.

This is the worst dentist I have ever seen throughout my years...I've been to this dentist and have nothing positive to say about her. There are somethings I noticed about her, which I would not mentioned here... but definitely a NO NO.... must say a cash Grab, which I don't mind paying for the service if its good... as one of her previous client had mentioned, she's not all that good even though she explains things my people don't take it as if you thing she is all that... I had some work done, and it was nothing but terrible, she's a bit rushy,and you she wants to make the quick bucks... I guess she saw my plan, so she always finds ways that she can ding out of ... I would not go to this dentist ever, ever in my life...her service is poor, nothing good to say about her...good luck to those who wants to go there... caution, you are warned!!

I have been a patient of Dr. Lam for close to 10 years. I have had many visits with her throughout these years, the regular cleaning, the occasional fillings, root canal, crown work, etc and etc. The work has always been fantastic, she typically provides an explanation beforehand to any procedures she was to perform, and I have never had any complications from the work done. There were at least two occasions when I needed emergency after-hours consultation and Dr. Lam actually phoned a pharmacy and they had a prescription ready for me to pick up an hour later. That was AMAZING service!!!!! Her staff is also wonderful, always a smile, polite and professional. Why I decide to write now is because of something else. I had a 6-unit bridge done and had to fight with my dental insurance company to have them pay this claim. The dental process was long, from when I first saw an endodontist to get the gum stabilized to support the new bridge to when the permanent bridge was actually put in, but the claim process was even longer. My dental insurance company had originally declined the claim due to a policy limitation (that was not made transparent to their insureds in the policy booklet). I fought this and won; had to go through two levels of appeals as well as my employer. Most dentists would have asked their patients to pay the full balance up front, and would not be willing to wait for the resolution of the dispute. Dr. Lam however, was an exception. Not only she did not pressure me to pay for services rendered almost a year ago, she was willing to wait it out with me for the outcome of the appeal, not knowing whether it will be a positive one or not. Her understanding and support of my cause, as well as her generosity with the money owed were very much appreciated. She had certainly earned a gold star in my book , for her excellent dentistry and amazing service!!! Tracy Taylor

Worst dental work I ever had. Dr. Hedy Lam has caused me almost a year of pain (still ongoing) and thousands of dollars trying to repair the problems she caused. I went to see her to get a filling replaced that had broken. She told me the tooth next to that broken filling also had a cavity. This was even though x-rays by other dentists that same year showed no cavity in that other tooth and I had no problems with that other tooth. I have been to a few different dentists for over 50 years and felt that 2 simple fillings was ok and I had NEVER had a problem with a filling before. Dr. Lam did not indicate that there should be anything out of the ordinary. I agreed to have the 2 fillings done. The procedure seemed to go normally. Only AFTER the procedure, while i was still sitting in the dentist chair, Dr. Lam tells me I may not be able to chew anything hard on that side for awhile. She also told me one of her patients had a problem with that kind of pain for 7 months after her doing a filling. I had NEVER been told such a thing by a dentist in my life and have had dozens of fillings. If she had told me this BEFORE I would not have let her do the work. I went home and when the freezing came out I could not chew ANYTHING on that side of my mouth. This extreme pain when chewing anything went on for 4 or 5 months and then the filling finally broke even though I could not chew anything on that side. I went to another dentist to try to get Dr. Lam's mess fixed. The dentist had to redo both fillings and said that the work done was very poor. After the replacement of both fillings the pain and sensitivity when chewing improved but I still could not chew anything remotely hard on that tooth. It is also the spot I tend to do most of my chewing. I endured the ongoing pain Dr. Lam had caused for another 4 months and went back to the dentist that had replaced the 2 fillings Dr. Lam had done. He said the next logical step in trying to fix Dr. Lam's mess was to crown the tooth. I had the crown done and the pain and sensitivity Dr. Lam caused still persists. I have spent thousands of dollars trying to fix Dr. Lam's mistakes and i am still in pain and can't chew properly. That amount does not include what she was paid initially. A VERY VERY BAD EXPERIENCE.

Doctor Hedy Lam and her incredibly professional staff provides excellent service. Every time I come in to get my teeth cleaned, I am always greeted and welcomed with great big smiles! Couldn’t ask for a better front desk, absolutely organized and extremely helpful and friendly! Hygenist are very skilled with precision and experience. Doctor Hedy Lam is an excellent dentist. I am very comfortable around her and her amazing staff. Thank you for always taking such great care of me and my teeth! I appreciate everything you do for me!
