I saw Dr. Goel 7 years ago through the specialist referral clinic. Due to a car accident that left me with major damage to my shoulder that caused my arm not to have feeling or proper movement causing me to not be able to put my arm overhead or have any strength and mobility, essentially my arm didn't work. After seeing multiple surgeons (4) that would not operate on me because they did not see any way to properly repair my shoulder. I unfortunately had to pay privately for the surgeries but it was well worth it. Dr Goel performed two separate surgeries both of which he explained he could not guaranty would bring me back to normal but would be my best route forward. Both Surgeries were successful giving me full range of motion and removing any grinding and pain I had. Due to some nerve issues I still had, Dr. Goel was able to get me to a nerve specialist right away to perform a 3rd surgery which fixed all my nerve pain. I spent 5 years trying to find a surgeon to help me as I was unable to properly work, unable to play sports, unable to properly move my arm, living in chronic pain and unable to live a happy life. I am now almost 6 years past all 3 surgeries and I am back to playing sports, have full rotation in my shoulder and feel like the person I used to be. I will forever need physiotherapy to my shoulder and have some limitations but it is a small price to pay to have my life back. Dr. Goel to me saved my life as I was at a point where I did not want to even wake up in the morning I was so depressed over my shoulder pain and inability to live a normal life. I will be forever grateful to him for doing everything he could to bring me back to being me. Thank you for everything you have done.

Awesome Surgeon. My surgery was twice as long as expected, but he made sure he repaired everything possible. If Covid wasn't happening the surgery would have been sooner than a year after the incident, but this was because of hospital protocols. Great guy to talk to and is very personable. Traveled from the Okanagan as all other surgeon's in the Okanagan could not do the surgery and they recommended him as the best. Would recommend Dr. Goel to anybody needing his expertise.

I am on wcb and had my shoulder surgery done with him . I was rushed from the clinic to home then given a prescription to get !!! How is that professional I was just released and it snowed the next day and it was for narcotics so i had to brave the snow and get it done . I had to brave the cold and almost fell . So i was also advised not to drive this is also a joke i got hurt on the bus but i went to the hospital and they would not attend to me. My appointment was in a few day i informed him of my new pain to which he smirked and did not check my arm and waved it off. He is smug and he is also arrogant and very contradicting and really he just doen't care he also asks me how i am but answers for me and he has WCB wrapped around his wallet so therefore he just doesn't care. Funny thing is that he did not even realize that i am still suffering from a frozen shoulder. I curse the day I set eyes on this man ,

Waited 3+ years for surgery and later found out he never booked my surgery. Had to make a complaint to Burnaby General Hospital in order for him to book my surgery. Did not take responsibility for long wait.

Dr. Goel performed a repair of my shoulder about 2 years ago now. I had a mountain biking fall and had torn both my rotator and bicep tendons off the bone in my shoulder. After an MRI Dr. Goel explained to me that this could be repaired but the recovery would be lengthy. Both turned out to be exactly accurate. It took almost a full year to be fully recovered - and lots of physio and strength training - but my shoulder is as strong as it was before with no pain. It's my 'throwing' shoulder and the one thing I cannot do is throw but ... I'm 52 so my throwing days are pretty much behind me anyway. I can golf and bike without pain. Unfortunately my other shoulder is now acting up and I am just awaiting MRI to diagnose that ... but I am using Dr. Goel again as the first process, surgery and result were excellent. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Goel did a bicep rupture and rotator cuff for me. Amazing from the staff to the doctor. He did a great job on the repair and now I'm back to new. And a great in-house physio too

After the first orthopedic shoulder specialist threw up his hands and told me there was nothing he could do for my massive rotator cuff tear, the referral to Dr. Goel changed my life. At that first visit Dr. Goel told me, "I can fix you." I trusted him from that moment and he did not let me down. He patched together a completely torn apart shoulder and bicep tendon and he did it with minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery. The first surgeon told me there was no way to do the job with a 'scope and strongly believed I would need grafted cadaver tendon if I was ever to have any kind of success. Dr. Goel confidently and quietly proved him wrong. He is a busy guy and can't spend too much time at each appointment but his staff is very helpful, patient and caring. And his associate surgeon is there to answer questions and help assess. But, no matter how brief my visits were with him, every time -- both pre- and post-surgery -- those few minutes reiterated that he cares and he knows exactly what he's doing. His associate warned me that my shoulder would "never be the same as it was" but it's beyond where I could have hoped. Dr. Goel's smile at our last follow-up appointment -- when he saw the progress of my recovery -- was genuine and reminded me why I was right to trust him that first day we met. I owe him a debt every time I reach for the top shelf of the cupboard.
