I saw this doctor with my elderly father about bowel issues back in Novemeber 2017 which he dismissed and said that it was probably due to his diet. Turns out he was wrong....my father continued to have issues and returned to the office when his symptoms became more concerning (blood, weight loss). With these symptoms Dr Lewis (who is another surgeon) suggested that we finally do a colonoscopy. He said it would take a few months to get it down. This did not sit well with me so we started looking at other options (private). I then got my father a referrral to the colorectal clinic at St Paul’s and within 10 days of the referral he had his colonocopy and has been diagnosed with a rectal tumor. We are still waiting for further investigations to determine the extent. I cannot speak on behalf of his surgical skills but if you are an elderly patient please do but go to him. During our visit he kept commenting about his age (86) and if that it was his father he would not do anything. I am fully aware of my father’s age but he is an extremely healthy man who has never had any health issues until now. In fact the first time he had an IV was for his scope. Not one time did I hear the staff at St. Paul’s comment about his age. They tend to look at the whole picture rather than just his birthdate. Fingers crossed that we are able to treat my father even if it is to just relieve his symptoms. The surgeon at St Paul’s has been wonderful so far and said he will require surgery. For anyone who feels that they are not getting the answers that they want please advocate for yourself or your family.
