Reading the comments.... Overall seems to be a very unliked individual. I have to agree with the majority. In the few posts that were positive it makes one wonder if he in fact suffers from mental illness. I hope he gets the help he needs.

Unfortunately I have to work with him. He has zero respect for anethetists nurses patients or anyone else who works on the team. He is sarcastic rude and dismissive. He is unhelpful to new (nervous) staff who are trying to learn. He loves to role his eyes, he is cocky and quite simply mean and not a good person. I would encourage even my worst enemy to seek out another general surgeon as I have personally witnessed each and every single time I have to work with him treat his patients like garbage in his passive aggressive manor.

I don't usually do this but I hope this will prevent someone from using this doctor in the future. I am reading here that he is very smart etc but I have no idea because he barely spoke to me. During my consultation for a very personal procedure (Colonoscopy) he barely acknowledged me and didn't even tell me when he was starting the exam.
Dreading the actual procedure I was reassured by the nurses at St. Mary's Hospital that there would be female nurses in the room and they were comforting while waiting. while in the room Dr. Paun appeared above me and said "safety check. name and allergies." i stuttered on my allergies as I was nervous and tried to laugh it off and he rolled his eyes and next thing I knew he began.... I hadn't even got the drugs yet or anything and he didn't warn be he was beginning this VERY PERSONAL procedure. I have not stopped thinking about it and how painful and rushed and horrible it was. There are screens that show what the camera is seeing that I wasn't informed about and all of a sudden the screen is in my face and I can see and I was in pain. Im so thankful that at least the nurses were kind. I will do everything I can to not do my follow-up with him and if I do I will be sure to inform him what type of experience he caused.

This was genuinely a horrible experience.
He pretty much had the attitude that I was an inconvenience and he wanted to be anywhere else - for both my experiences

Receptionist is the worst. No other word for it. Unhelpful and rude. Dr. Paun is a good, but quirky doctor. Get a new receptionist. I would give zero stars if I could.

further to another comment that I left, I couldn't be happier. It's been eight months since my hemorrhoidectomy, and everything is working like it's brand new. When friends ask me about my surgery, I tell them the doctor has it so finally tuned that I only need one sheet of tissue paper.

Dr. Paun performed Colorectal Surgery on me. I was extremely pleased with his efficient manner and his skill as a surgeon. He checked on me every morning after the surgery and answered all my questions. I would highly recommend him as a very professional surgeon.

I found him to be arrogant, rude and dismissive! I’d rather get a root canal with no freezing than see him again.

My surgery was Oct. 30/17. Very thankful to have the hemerhoids gone. Dr. Paun and his staff are efficient and to the point. Like a previous reviewer stated, if you want someone to hold ypur hand, this doctor is not your guy. he answers your questions and gets the job done. one word of caution. narcotic pain killers produce constipation. not something you need when that end of you has just been cut up. i would have used less pain killers and more stool softeners, had i known. the surgery was no big deal. the constipation darn near killed me.
