David operated on my cervical spine in 2011, I had an unusual condition generally found in 50 yr old Asian men. Ossification of the posterior ligament causing impigment on the spinal cord.
I found he was empathetic to my condition, explained everything throughly, gave me hugs when i was scared & reassured me that they would do everything to solve my problem... 2 x operations a week apart.
He visited it seemed every day i was in St Andrews for 1 month.
Today i saw him as i had had a fall from my horse & had had amnesia & just wanted to check all was ok !
He was pleased to see me & given the all clear to keep on riding.

The worst Neurosurgeon I have ever seen. David Walker was happy to take my money, a hefty fee too, but he refused and did not answer any of my questions, or he was clearly unable to answer any of my questions regarding my painful back and foot condition, which left me out of pocket and not knowing what is wrong with me. I now have no idea what to do about my ongoing pain. When I asked for a refund, he refused. I walked in hoping to at least get a treatment plan, I walked out humiliated, less $400 in my bank account and with no answers or empathy or support to help me.

By far the worst surgeon I have ever seen, I needed another surgeon to go back into my spine and pull out all the work he did and replace it and fix the other things he either didn't see or didn't care about.
I recommend you see someone else

I went to see Dr David Walker about an incapacitating back pain problem. David was very knowledgeable, engaging and highly articulate. He explained my options, highlighted the risks and benefits of each option and allowed me to make an informed decision regarding the treatment of my herniated disk. Once I had made my choice he was able to expedite my surgery and has alleviated an otherwise debilitating painful experience that has had a significant impact on my quality of life. His follow up after surgery was considered and respectful. I would not hesitate to recommend his professional services.

This doctor was very rude to my mother. Straight out told her she couldnt afford it. She was willing to pay as she was so desperate to get help. Very rude and uncaring.

Said that pain wasall in my partner's head. Two other surgeons disagree and my partner is about to have his number 2nd back surgery. Bad bedside manner and was unhelpful.

I left the office in tears l, been suffering pain for months and months and to be referred to Dr walker for more help, he told me I do not need surgery so I don’t need to be seeing him, I had all these questions lined up to ask where he shut me down, he told me to stop taking my pain medication and go back to work. His shirt was half tucked out and half in, she was obviously tired and not bothered with the appointment. I told him I have been doing physio but can’t do anything in the morning as I can barely walk to.m his reply just do it! We paid $300 for a appointment we could barely afford but booked it as we need answers to what is going on with my lower back, he barely did a examination to see how I move just asked me to bend forward and back, all I wanted was help and answers to everything going on, I will be contacting the health ombudsman tomorrow as this conduct is unacceptable

Had two consultations with Dr Walker. The first after looking at CT scans and report showing bulging disk on L5 nerve root and other he's comment was, easy fix but let us have MRI. Second Visit after 5seconds looking at one only MRI scan he then said in my words, accept the pain and take pain killers, have a nerve root block and do not waste my time. Had nerve block that lasted 3Days and know still in pain. He took no notes and yet sent letter to my GP with comments that are completely incorrect from our meeting. Having second opinion this week from a recommended DR who I am hoping understands what severe pain can do to a person. Absolute waste of time and money with this uncaring Dr.
