Have had Dr Tollesson complete my cervical C5-C6 ACDF surgery in October 2023, couldn't have gone better, Dr Tollesson had done such a great job was home in 2 days, the nurses that took care of me at home said the wound was exquisite, as a woman, scars matter, and he left me with just a normal looking wrinkle. I'm now have my 2nd surgery right now 24-4-24 with Dr Gert doing my L4-L5-S1 and i trust this man to do another great job. He is very thorough, having pre-op scans, xray, bloods and ECG can't feel more prepared with a Dr that goes above and beyond. Very personable, King and cares about his patients and their family... I have no doubts about his ability and professional caring attitude...thanku Dr Gert..

Dr Tollesson is nothing but the best. He simply saved my partner's life. He acted so quickly, recognising the urgency and severity of the case and performed brain surgery which other neurosurgeons simply refused. After seeing another Neurosurgeon (who I won't name) and not being very happy with that visit, I was referred to Dr Gert Tollesson for a second opinion, and can wholeheartedly confirm that he was the polar opposite of that previous experience. Everything that people are saying about him here is true. He is friendly, personable answered all of my numerous questions patiently and fully and took time to explain treatment options. He is an absolute champion, and I have no hesitation in placing my trust in him with regard to handling my painful neck condition. A couple of people have mentioned that he often seems to be running late, and while it's true that I was delayed going in for my consultation, I don't consider this a negative - it's because he takes as much time as needed with his patients and is not in a hurry to rush them out the door, even if that means running over time. Believe me, that is a small price to pay for being under his care. I am so glad I found him. Thank you Dr Tollesson!

Dr Tollesson is an incredible surgeon and the biggest people person. He actually cares about you, your wants and your needs. Not only did he help me with a massive surgery but he checked in on me almost every day post surgery and helped accommodate me in each and every way he possibly could. Even before surgery he answered all me and my family's 100 questions with the most calm and peaceful manner. If you ever need a neurosurgeon please please go and see him especially if you have Chiari Malformation. He knows what he is doing and will also explain it all to you! Thank you so much for the amazing care you have (and continue to) provide me with. His staff can be a bit slow but I completely understand he is incredibly busy and there is a lot of other patients to work through. But be sure to put out more time for any appointments at the office as there may be delays due to him having so many surgeries that sometimes last a bit longer.

I thank DR Tollesson from the bottom of my heart, the words I am writing are doing no justice for the true gratefulness, hope and faith he and his team have done in the Xmas Season of 2021; for doing a impossible Job, my Lower back had a 35 year old injury and it has been falling apart ever since, being in sever stabbing nerve pain for many years and thinking how I am going to get old, (I am currently 48 years old)was a scary thought.

The level of humility and the ability to explain very complex issues and then have the capacity to find a solution to fix such a injury is truly magic.
Above all else Gert himself defended my Choice to choose what is being placed in my body on every level from Blood Transfusion to Medication, he did that despite the massive Public / Social pressure that he was under.
No other Doctor two this day has defended my life to this level, for that very act i am in deep Gratitude for rest of my life, that was a true divine gift that I received and no money can buy that type of care.
To all the people that reading this, no matter how broken your spine and nerves are, or what other Doctors you have seen and for whatever reason they would / could not help you just go and see DR Gert Tollesson and his team and your Quality of Life can be restored, improved and changed because mine has too.

Words I would use to describe him: Kind, Caring, Humble, Compassionate, Empath, Knowledgeable, Experienced, Passionate and Dedicated to helping his patients. Most of all, HUMAN!

God-like complex, does not fit in the same category of this Neurosurgeon. I’ll be clinging to him for dear life. Hydrocephalus is a complex condition but Dr Tollesson put me at ease straight away and, every step of the way. After 2 weeks post op, I feel more at ease than I’ve ever been. I wish I could share you with my Hydro community/family💙

All his staff have been easy to deal with: accommodating, friendly, kind and caring as well. It’s refreshing!

Dr Gert Tollesson is an amazing surgeon and a very kind and caring man. Words will never express the debt of gratitude our family owes him. Gert successfully performed very complex brain surgery on our son at QCH. It was a life-threatening diagnosis not without risk. Our son was back at school within two weeks of being released from hospital.

Facing brain surgery is terrifying for the entire family, but meeting Gert gave us great reassurance that everything was going to be okay. He even gave us his own mobile number and said we can call him with any questions.

He has a way of putting you at ease with his down to earth, but professional manner. If you or a family member is facing brain surgery and you have come to this review page to seek assurance that Gert is the right man for the job, take great comfort in the fact that he is a very experienced surgeon, who is a bit of a living legend at Queensland Children's Hospital.
