My interaction with him was the worst Dr experince of my life. I experienced extreme bleeding and pain starting the day after a colonoscopy. He told me he didnt believe me and if it was happening it had nothing to do with the colonoscopy. Kept insisting that he needed to do another scope and even though I was in extreme pain kept insisting that he should do a sigmoid scope with no sedation. I am still struggling 2 years later from the damage that he did to my gut.

Dr Aspinall performed a colonoscopy on me. He was so personable and helpful and produced a very thorough report. I cannot reconcile my experience with some of the negative reviews.

had a colonoscopy and and gastroscopy with this doctor. he made me feel like crap for being there asking me why my doctor even referred me. the entire experience was horrible, i was away for both procedures and very uncomfortable. wasn't even sure he was going to perform even after doing all of the colonoscopy prep. i am so glad that i will not have to see this doctor again as I was able to find a much nicer and more comforting GI Doc in Red Deer

I've seen Dr. Aspinall several times now. He is very knowledgeable and quite thorough with evaluation questions and examinations. I get that for some people he may come across as a bit impersonal at first and he may ask questions that seem redundant but it is part of his process/learning about you as a patient. I find him very willing to answer questions too - whether its a concern or more of a curiosity. He is not a doctor that will ever give you the warm fuzzies (and honestly most specialists are not wired that way) but he's excellent at what he does and will do what he can to determine a diagnosis, even if it is a bit of a challenge. I trust his skills and methodologies 100%.

I had a colonoscopy done by this doctor, my 7th and first with him. Kept asking ridiculous questions and got mad when I said no, I don’t have hepc and no I don’t have recurring pink eye, he didn’t believe me. And the last specialist added Benadryl to the cocktail and it made all the difference so I mentioned it to the nurse and she told the doc and he was so childish about it, he did it because I asked but totally made me feel like an idiot. also I was aware and awake and he must have superman eyes because it took about 5 min total and I was dizzy just watching how fast he went with the camera, I felt like he didn’t do it properly to see everything cause none of the previous surgeons never went that fast, I don’t think it’s possible to see anything when he went that fast. Also his nurse was very abrupt and got upset because one of the corners was super painful.? Sorry? I’d like to give her one! And terrible at putting in an IV. NEVER AGAIN WILL I SEE HIM.

Dr. Aspinall saved my husbands life because of his diligence at keeping up with the newest methods to cure HepC. We started out with another Dr. in the beginning at Foothills where we also met Dr. Aspinall. We continued with him after he moved to the South Campus hospital. We had many years of uncertainty with my husbands diagnosis and a few unsuccessful treatments but with Dr. Aspinall staying the course to find a cure for my husbands type of HepC his liver is now on it's way to becoming healthier. Even though he is no longer his direct patient he still tracks my husbands health. He was always informative, supportive and caring. I still praise his work. Thank you again Dr. Aspinall for being there for us. I highly recommend him.

I'm not sure as to why such negative ratings. I found him to be an excellent, kind, knowledgeable and soft spoken Dr. I would recommend him to anyone.

He is truly a wonderful Doctor, he tells you everything that is going to happen and when questioned on things I didn’t understand, he took the time to explain. No problem recommending him.

I saw him 5 years ago and am still traumatized over the way he treated me. He sneered at me while telling me I was obese and if I didn't change my habits I would die soon. I am still alive six years later. He should actually get his license taken away. Worse doctor I've ever seen in my whole life.
