I have a rare neurological condition that causes intense pain. Dr. Boulis explained all possible surgical options to me in a way that brought my anxiety down from a 10 to a 1. I found him to be patient, thorough, and very, very human and approachable. It's sometimes hard to find a doctor who is both highly technically skilled and kind and approachable. Dr. Boulis is both. If you find yourself in need of a neurosurgeon, I feel you'll be in the very best hands with Dr. Boulis.

Horrible for my wife. We saw him ONCE. After problems developed he passed them off to staff. Never heard from him again and his staff was not helpful.

I suffered for over a year with facial pain. Thinking it was a dental problem, I went to several dental specialists with no results. When the pain went into my tongue I consulted a neurologist and was sent to the Pain Clinic and was given medication. When there were no results from the medication I had a nerve block. I had a second block which did not give me any relief. Feeling like I was at the end of my rope I tried physical therapy and then acupuncture to no avail. I went to the internet and started a search for a surgeon specializing in Trigeminal Neuralgia and spoke with offices in Pittsburgh and New Jersey. New Jersey recommended Emory and I found Dr. Boulis in my own backyard. Dr. Boulis and his staff were very helpful and I decided to have the Microvascular Decompression surgery. My surgery was in July, 2015 and I have been pain free since. Dr. Boulis did a fantastic job and I highly recommend him. Suzanne Marger

Dr. Nicholas Boulis is an amazing surgeon. In January of 2013, I was diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia, a severe nerve disorder. My life consisted of hospital stays, heavy medication, and liquid diets. During our first consult, Dr. Boulis was very direct and informative, giving me several options outside of surgery. In August of 2013, I decided to move forward with the Microvascular Decompression surgery and could not be happier! Dr. Boulis helped give me my life back! I am no longer on medication and can enjoy food, my family, and my life again.

My wife has had very painful Trigeminal Neuralgia for ten years. The level of the Tegretol she was taking to treat the condition had increased more than five-fold. The Tegretol made her nauseous and she was sick quite a fraction of the time in the last year. We searched for the best surgeon to perform Microvascular Decompression and it was obvious that Dr. Boulis would be our choice. He performed the surgery on May 21, 2014 with spectacular results. My wife's facial pain is completely gone. Placing the pad between the Trigeminal nerve and the artery was very successful. Her recovery went very well after two days of some pain and nausea. She has her life back! We will be forever grateful for Dr. Boulis skill and care and the superb Emory Clinic.

Dr. Boulis is a wonderful caring informative Neruo-Surgeon that has given me relief from my 13 years of Occipital Neuralgia which had totally taken over every moment of my life. Dr. Boulis implanted a neurotransmitter into the back of my head in December 2013. For two months now I have been getting relief from this debilitating burning in occipital area. I have had all types of meds and therapy, shots ect. to which no comfort could be obtained until this surgery. Thank you again Dr. Boulis for this life changing relief!!!!
