I'm amazed by the care I receive from Dr. Yates, his partners and his staff. Dr. Yates has taken care of my husband (John) for three years. John didn't want to call anyone, but I was worried, so I called Dr. Yates. He told me that with John having chest pain, he needed to be seen immediately and that he was on his way to his car to meet us at the hospital. He got to the ER before we did in the ambulance! He called the Cardiologist on his cell phone from John's room in the ER and a few minutes later, John was in the operating room having a heart cathetheterization. The cardiologist told us that he wasn't surprised when Dr. Yates called - he is Dr. Yates patient also. And so is our Gastroenterologist (who referred us to Dr. Yates in the first place). Dr. Yates' practice is not for everyone. It's not cheap. But if you hate to wait and want to stay healthy - or get back to good health if you're not - he's the man to see.

I am a patient in Dr. Yates' practice and have been for almost a decade. In January 2007 when he decided to change the practice model from the typical to a concierge model, I was thrilled. Look, I hate to wait and I also know that you get what you pay for. This is the perfect combination - a caring, compassionate, skilled physician with a support system unequalled. If you want medicine-by-the-lowest-bidder, this isn't the practice for you. If you want the best, it is. Simple as that.

Dr. Yates went to an "Executive Pay Plan". I was told by his staff it would be $2,000/year, just to see him. I did not know doctors were now doing retaining fees. If I would have known up front, I would not have gone to him. His staffs are nice individuals, but they made too many mistake. Esp. if this is the same staff I would be paying $2,000/yr he has working for him. 3 thumbs down.

Dr. Yates' staff is excellent, his care excellent. I can easily reach him any time, day or night - and he's seen me on a Saturday afternoon to save me a trip to the ER. Some advice for the patient who posted (03/2006) regarding EMT opinions - they didn't go to medical school, didn't do a residency and have not been elected President of the Texas Academy of Internal Medicine (as has Dr. Yates)... Dr. Yates has been my physician for about a decade - and I will trust no one else.

Although Dr. Yates is a pleasant and knowledgeable doctor, he is diificult to get in to see on a timely basis. He is promoting an Executive Health Plan in which patients pay $5000 to $10,000 extra for the privelege of getting an immediate appointment and to talk to him on his cellphone 24/7. My previous physician did these same services but with no membership in an executive plan that cost the patient thousands of additional dollars each year. Perhaps I am spoiled, but I was under the impression that this is what doctors do. In addition, Dr. Yates has not ever contacted me by phone regarding the results of a test. I have always had to call the office, and then they request I come in. Perhaps this is why it is so difficult to get a timely appointment...unnecessary appointments to relay test results. Dr. Yates is nice guy, and a good doctor, but unless you are joing the Executive Health Plan, I recommend you find someone else.

Told me I needed to get a $2,000 MRI and refused to administer more basic, cost effective tests recommended by EMT’s a week prior to appointment. Two other doctors felt the MRI was unnecessary and couldn’t understand why it was requested.
