Dr. Leyba is good when he takes the time to evaluate his patient and ask what problems they are having. This doesn't happen often. If the patient doesn't take charge of the visit he will give a cursory review of the joints, check blood work and be gone. Five minute office visit, tops. His staff, Jessica and Vanessa are among the worse medical staff I've ever encountered and I've seen rheumatologists for over 40 years. They will tell you that have completed a routine service when they have not but when confronted with facts, they will deny and embellish their story. They will treat you with distain if you call them on something and won't mind keeping you waiting for 2 hours if it suits them. They are not helpful and do not work in the best interest of Dr. Leyba nor do they value his practice. These two staff members nearly cost me a year long grant for Enbrel because they didn't file a simple Prior Authorization. After 4 months of being lied to by Jessica and Vanessa and having my authorization denied, I was finally able to discover that they had never filed the document. They accused me of being the cause of the denial when in fact, it was "timed out" because Medicare requires a 72 hour response time and his staff failed to comply. They were also responsible for not providing a referral service to a specialist for a knee evaluation that cost me 3 months of wait time. Medical staff are as important as the doctor in helping his patients. If you are expecting a friendly, helpful service, this is not the place to go.

He doesn't not take the time to understand the patient and doesn't listen to the patient. He always in a hurry when meeting with me. He told me that if I'm not satisfied with his service, then I can always find another rheumatologist.

Definitely not a good doctor for Fibromyalgia. I knew he didn't understand the symptoms of FM when I explained how tired I was and he said "oh come on." He is not a good listener and often talked over me. He regularly got on me about my weight (I wear size 10-12) and when he once gave me my weight he said "what's wrong with you lady." Never made any recommendations other than medication. I was very disappointed with his lack of empathy and know it all attitude.

I've been seeing Dr. Mauro for five years. In all that time I had never missed an appointment until last month. (12/17). When I called to reschedule the staff claimed that they didn't have any appointments until the end of February. In the mean time they refuse to refill my medication. I could understand this if I were taking narcotics or something strong, but folic acid, really?

I went to Dr. Leyba a few times and he was always late, even with nobody else in the office. I tried to describe to him my symptoms and how certain vitamins were helping ease my pain and discomfort and he literally did not even look up at me except to say that I was wrong and to only take the medication he was prescribing. I did not feel like he cared too much or maybe he was too busy. Either way, I will not be going back to see Mr. Leyba.

I've been seeing Dr. Leyba for 20 yrs. I credit him with keeping me upright and walking. When I first saw him I knew I would be in a wheelchair very soon, but with his care I am still able to maintain a fairly normal life. I would rate him A plus in all aspects. Staff is excellent!
