I absolutely love Dr. VanEss. Him and his staff are extremely courteous, professional, caring and understanding more than i have seen or experienced with other drs. He truly cares for his patients and treats you as if you are a close friend or relative and not just another patient or statistic. He explains your diagnosis and treatment plan in detail with you in order for you to completely understand all aspects of it. This was my first surgery ever in all my 38 years and so you can only imagine my fears and worries. I had never heard of Chlosteatoma in the ear (and i have it in both ears which isnt really common but not uncommon either.) Since going to Dr. VanEss I now have a complete understanding to what I have and the severity of it. He has already performed one surgery ( my left ear) which basically had to remove everything inside my ear ( membrane walls, the three ear bones, infection, and the chlosteatoma, which is like a cyst or tumor) and had to place a titanium bar to replace my 3 bones, put in a ventilation tube, and reconstruct my ear drum. He is an outstanding surgeon and i am truly impressed with him! He really takes pride in his work and cares about his patients!! I would recommend him to anyone who has ear, nose and throat problems. I refuse to see any other surgeon/dr but him!!

Dr. Van Ess is a superior doctor and surgeon. He has been my specialist for over two years. During this time he has treated me for hearing loss and Eustachian tube dysfunction. Dr. Van Ess also rebuilt my eardrum because I had a very unhealthy eardrum with a rather large hole that was unable to repair itself. Since the surgery I have not only increased my hearing, but also have had less ear pain and retraction problems of my ears. My other medical providers have been very impressed with how much healthier my new drum looks in comparison to before the surgery. Additionally, I have always had major ear issues flying. I did not go see him for problems with flying, but since the surgery I have had no problems flying. I would 100% recommend Dr. Van Ness to anyone needing an ENT or surgeon. In closing, he is a very experienced doctor, professional, and courteous. In each visit he was great at explaining and educating me on the condition and progress of my ears.
