One week post op from breast augmentation with DR. Giuffre, and so far I can say he did a wonderful job, very happy with the size he recommended for my body! He’s a busy doctor which shows, he doesn’t site around and chat but if I had any questions or concerns he absolutely took the time for me. His staff are wonderful, I felt comfortable and taken care of by all of them. As long as everything keeps going good I definitely would recommend him.

He operated on my hand three times, each time giving me no knowledge or information on the progress. I ended up with an infection and a disintegrated joint. My finger will never be functional again. Never get a plastic surgeon to do a hand specialist job.

I saw Dr. Guiffre on Feb 28 for a bilateral mastectomy with free nipple graft, for transgender reassignment (aka double incision top surgery). it has so far been a very positive experience. i'm only a few weeks post op and the results look fantastic. my nipples are turning nice and pink, and i was starting to have sensation in them again over a week ago. my chest is shaped nicely, though i may have minor dog earring when it's all healed. he even made an explicit effort not to cut into a tattoo on my ribs.

my left chest wall has had some complications (through no fault of dr. guiffre's). there has been a buildup of fluid. dr. guiffre drained the fluid for me and has instructed me to call his office if i have any other issues. being awake while he was doing a minor surgical procedure made it more obvious how carefully and precisely he works.

some people say he doesn't have a great bedside manner. he definitely doesn't seem like the type to be "there" for his patients in that aspect. he couldn't give me an estimate for time off work other than "however long you think you need," and that info was important so i would know what to tell my work! it does seem like i have to squeeze my questions in with him, but he is clearly a busy surgeon (as most surgeons are), so this didn't surprise me much. he did make sure to explain to me how my chest is healing, what he was doing and why, and even gave me instructions on ways to get the best results with regards to scarring. he knows what he is doing, and i couldn't have asked for anything better.

I had breast arguments on oct 2012. I have to say. After reading reviews it’s hard to believe it’s the same doctor. I had the best experience and no complaints from start to finish. From my experience and opinion was a great decision and would choose him again for how happy I am with the work he did.

I had a ganglion removed on my left wrist. Major scaring and pain no info regarding follow up care. No meds for pain. Needed to go dermatologist in regards to tightness in my stitched up hand. Would never go back. Horrible scar now on my hand. Dealing with injections for scar tissue.

I had a Dorsel hand ganglion removed by Dr. Guiffre at the Misercordia last week that has left me feeling very misinformed and disappointed in the surgery itself. The unprofessionalism by the staff with using avoidance behaviour towards me at the correct times prior to him starting made me very aware that the "local" anesthesia was not going to cover the pain during the surgery. I was told by another practitioner due to the size of my ganglion I should have had a "Bier" block. This was not used. Instead an additional nurse was brought in to stand at my feet while the other to my other side saying kindly she would distract me. I could see in her face she knew my pain would be great. Never have I researched a large ganglion removed this way! no sterilization of my hand/arm prior, and he should have used a glue strip over the stitches after. one week later and my hand is full of bruising, only a sheet given to me about "what to expect". And no proper pain medicine prescribed for the day(s) after. Up to 48 hours after I felt as if my hand was amputated. I have never felt such pain in my life. 1/100 chances of not returning he said. I sure hope I am not that 1. I hope I can move my hand again, very pour range of motion. My left side has CP. I feel completely crippled with no support. I will get a consult from my GP next week as to how to proceed.

I had a breast reduction done 4 years ago, I should be on the show “Botched” both my nipples are different now and are both so messed up I refuse to take my bra off. This has affected the very few relationships I have been in since. I noticed the difference immediately after the surgery and they assured me it was just scabbing and that it would heal nicely. Not sure if they just don’t take the time and care when ur not paying cash and it’s somwthung that’s covered but it seems like they just didn’t care what the end result would look like. So sad

I got implants done, and we had discussed breast sizes to which I said I did not want to be bigger than a C cup. During the surgery, he saw that I would need larger implants to properly fit the breasts. So while I was under general anesthetic, he made the call and put larger implants. To my shock I ended up being a DD-E cup size. I hated them. Was not happy that I wasn’t able to make the decision, cause I would not have done the surgery. I was so self conscious and didn’t wear bathing suits for years after that. Finally I called the office and wanted them removed. They said it’d cost me more money. So I ended up finding a plastic surgeon in Calgary who removed them at no cost, and done through Alberta Health Care, as an out patient at the hospital. I chose to just be my self, with no augmentation of any kind. And for that I am so much happier. Doctors tell you the truth but don’t tell you the whole truth cause they’re trying to make a sale. Ladies make sure you ask a lot of questions before making that final decision.

I thought I was the only one who had problems with thier surgery from this doctor. Apparently not. Im so frustrated this was not available when I had my breast reduction surgery years ago. To this day I still suffer from complications. I have scarring so badly I never take my bra off, dense bumps on both sides of mu breasts, and they constantly leak what? Im not sure. I spoke to him about it after my surgery and he said it was normal. Normal 20 years later? He took too much off and Im a bigger girl, it was horrible. I spent over a week innthe hospital because I was so sick and vomitting everywhere. He never offered to fix all the scarring, it looks like Frankenstein performed the surgery with a knitting needle. Thought he was suppose to make me look better and feel better. Not suffer for life.

Had a wrist deposit removal surgery at the Royal Alex performed by Dr. Giuffre. 2 hours delayed in an overflowing waiting area. The procedure seemed straightforward enough, but no information was provided about recovery time, self-care, avoidance of work/exertion, etc. until intake. Info sheet was so generic, had to ask doc for specific situation. Assured me that growth would not come back, and post-op care advice was simply 'if it hurts, don't do it'. Not even a week after surgery, the growth has started to reform again. Stitches look terrible - inflamed/bulbous sections and uneven stitches, with lots of surrounding bruising/blood pooling. People who see my unbandaged stitches remark that I could have stitched myself up better had I done it myself...I don't understand how this can be happening...I am very scared that i will have to go in again for same procedure. If so, I will try for a different doctor. How terrible to have been cut open to be left worse off than I had started :(
