This is a copy of the email I sent to Dr. Keohane's office on October 6, 2022, with my thoughts on my surgical experience:
Hey Tracy! Hope your week is going well.
I wanted to write an email that I hope you can pass onto Dr. Keohane and the rest of the team for me. It's been a couple weeks since surgery, my cast is off and I've had a chance to resume my normal life.
I wanted to thank Dr. Keohane for doing such a beautiful job. I didn't realize how poorly I was breathing before surgery, but now, I realize that a large part of my insomnia and constant fatigue was likely due to the fact I wasn't breathing properly. I'm still a little congested here and there, but the difference in breathing now versus before surgery is amazing. I actually feel well rested after a full night's sleep and I don't wake up as often in the middle of the night.
Aesthetically, my nose is no longer distracting from the rest of my features. For the first time in my life, I don't see my reflection in a mirror and fixate on my nose. I see it, but now it looks like a beautiful addition to my face instead of an eyesore. I've always been told I'm attractive, but for the first time in as long as I can remember, I actually believe it and I can see it. I know I'm still in the early stages of healing and I know it'll improve as it goes, but I'm already so thrilled and I feel so much more confident about my entire life because I'm not so self conscious about my nose. It complements my face so much; he did a wonderful job of improving my nose without changing my entire appearance. Just the other day, one of my relatives said to me, "I can't quite put my finger on it, but there is something different about you. You changed something, but I can't quite figure out what it is." My sister told me that she's so impressed and thankful that I still look like me, because sometimes, plastic surgery can go too far in the other direction.
Tracy, you and the entire team did such an amazing job of alleviating my fears and explaining the entire process to me. This is the first surgery I've ever had and I was so scared, but the entire team did a great job of calming me down and walking me through everything they were going to do. Everyone was so available to answer all the questions I had and really helped put my mind at ease.
My recovery was extremely easy, with a very minimal amount of bruising. Prior to surgery, I was doing my research and I was fully prepared for two black eyes, blood and a lot of pain. I was pleasantly surprised that I experienced very little of what I was expecting. I'm crediting Dr. Keohane's experience with the recovery I had. He knows exactly what he's doing and I really think his level of care is part of why I had so little bruising and swelling. I did have a couple hilarious days of jaw swelling that made me look like a Lego character, but that was about it.
Thank you again for such a wonderful surgical experience and outcome. After all the research I did leading up, I truly didn't expect to love my results as much as I did so soon after cast off, but I am so thankful that I do. I absolutely love how I look now and I can't thank Dr. Keohane and his team for helping me to do so.
Sincerely,
Courtney
