Dr. Herber played a central role in helping me through a very difficult time in my life. Her compassion and clinical wisdom were instrumental in helping me keep my emotional pain in context Aside from her extensive clinical training, one of the things that makes her an amazing practitioner is her authenticity. She is quite simply one of the most authentic human beings that I’ve had the pleasure of working with. I would highly recommend her.

Dr. Herber is an amazing, insightful, compassionate psychologist. She is a consummate professional and truly takes the time to listen and learn and clearly brings years of experience that informs her ability to provide help. She is non-judgmental and thoughtful and brings love and kindness to her sessions, in addition to her tremendous understanding of the human mind and experience. Highly recommend! Sidenote -- I have referred colleagues and friends to her and all have been very happy with their personalized experiences.

Dr. Herber has been extremely helpful to me. She understood my needs from the beginning. Her insights and thoughts have transformed my life.
She carefully listens to my concerns and addresses them. She has this ability to connect past events to recent ones to identify behaviors. She points out areas where she sees progress, but also areas that need work, and she does it with her very human demeanor that characterizes her. She also has given me excellent book recommendations that have broadened my knowledge about specific situations relevant to me.
I am surprised about the negative feedback about Dr. Herber on this site. For example, she has never talked to anybody during a session with me.
In short, anybody would be lucky to have the opportunity to work with her. She is one of a kind, a very intelligent and human person.

I am a Clinical Psychologist who has been referring patients to Dr. Herber for many years and can attest to her excellent reputation and clinical work. The feedback that I have received from patients has consistently been nothing short of stellar. I am posting because a prospective patient that I referred shared concern that they had read several recent reviews about Dr. Herber that were quite negative. Specifically, it was noted that Dr. Herber was pathologizing in her approach towards patients. I know for a fact that Dr. Herber does not approach therapy from a paradigm of "pathology" or "sickness." Indeed she would be strongly opposed to such a clinical approach and more generally does not see or relate to people in that manner. I refer people to Dr. Herber because of her humanistic approach, empathy, and compassion. Further, Dr. Herber is a very experienced clinician who is frequently sought out for peer consultation because of her expertise and skill as a therapist. She has tremendous respect for her patients. Now of course it is essential for any person starting therapy to feel heard and to develop trust in the relationship with their therapist. It has to be a good fit. Sometimes it may not be a good fit in which case it is important to stop the treatment and for that patient to seek help elsewhere. People are clearly entitled to their opinions and feelings about their experiences. However, I would say that there are lines between facts, opinion, and most unfortunately at times slander.

* I can not speak to staffing. Dr. Herber has always been punctual for scheduled meetings.

The worst experience in therapy ever. Not careful with her words and rushed into misdiagnosing me

Dr Herber would cancel sessions, switch Telehealth appointments to phone calls, and show up late every single time. On top of that, she called me chronically depressed 15 minutes into our first session without any evaluations because “we need to submit some serious diagnosis for your insurance company” (??), pathologized my emotions, and kept saying she was “confused” with me to the point where I started spiraling and doubting my own feelings about these sessions. I know this sort of dynamic should not be happening in therapy, and I’m even more convinced this was completely off after getting a couple of opinions from out-of-network therapists and BU counselors. Luckily, now that I quit working with this therapist, got enough sleep, and resumed my mindfulness practices, I feel grounded again most of the time. Will hire a trusted out of network professional instead

Andrea worked with my husband and I during a very difficult time in our relationship. I cannot recommend her enough . She made us both feel heard and listened to and gave us tools that have transformed how we handle conflict. While we still have our challenges now and then, we are so much more capable of managing and we are now able to achieve resolve much faster with the tools Andrea helped us learn.
