Biography

Dr. Stephen Sorenson has exclusively specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of venous abnormalities the past 22 years. He has been caring for patients in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, first with the largest group of vein specialists in the United States, and today in private practice. He has dedicated his medical career to finding better, less-invasive treatments for varicose veins, spider veins, venous ulcers, thrombophlebitis, venous stasis dermititis, leg edema and facial/hand cosmetic veins. Dr. Sorenson has collaborated on multiple research projects, authored papers in order to advance venous and lymphatic medicine. He was one of the first diplomates of the American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine (Phlebology) and a founding member of the American College of Phlebology Education Foundation. He is a registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) and a registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI). Dr. Sorenson is a residency trained, board-certified Emergency Physician as well. He lives in Barrington, Illinois with his wife, four children and three cats. When not treating patients, Dr. Sorenson enjoys hiking, biking, skiing and spending time with his family and cheering on his children at sporting and scouting events.
