Dr. Alevy was recommended to me by a friend to help me deal with depression brought on by stress and anxiety. He was systematic in his approach to how he helped me overcome my issues and got me back in the game of life. He was wonderful and am very grateful that I found him!

I was patient of Dr. Alevy for few months through which he helped me to get over anxiety that affected my everyday life. I am glad that at right point I decided to ask for help in the way of cognitive therapy which was aimed on specific fears, worries and the situations that provoked them. As a foreigner I was lucky that dr. Alevy understands second language issues and adaptation to American culture. Beside his professional expertise, I think the personal experience and familiarity with different cultures helps him in the work with people to whom English is a second language. In very organized sessions in which we tried to solve one by one problems I was happy to get my “reality” back and in short time to function in everyday life like I was doing before the problems started. Even I do not attend any more sessions, I still use the cognitive strategies and advices that I learn through the therapy. I comfortably would recommend dr. Alevy.

I have recently been seeing Dr. Alevy. He has taken my panic disorder and turned my life around completely for the better. I have such a more positive outlook on daily life now than I did before and I owe it all to him. He takes treatment for disorders very seriously and you can even see his face light up when you tell him how much better you are feeling. I would recommend him to anyone who has problems with anxiety or panic because he really will change your life. He takes each session to thoroughly explain each point and backs them up with information so that every patient understands the methods and treatment for their disorder. I cannot put into words the true appreciation I have for Dr. Alevy and I hope that everyone who has the opportunity to visit with him can do so.

Dr. Alevy has problems with empathy and tries to satisfy his men's ego by his "help". I have a skin picking disorder and this person has done nothing but sent me to the psychiatrist and didn't even talk to me properly. He told me that I should be on pills for the rest of my life. I am a foreigner and can say for sure that this person has a lack of culture. He also told me what I should do that is completely inappropriate. After talking to this person I felt very bad and almost got into an accident driving.

Dr. Alevy is like no psychologist/therapist I have ever had. Cognitive therapy works. He has the ability to parse through complex problems and provides simple (but not simplistic) solutions. I would definitely recommend him to my friends and family.

I started seeing Dr. Alevy because I had situational social anxiety attacks that would result in excessive blushing of the face, neck and chest. This was getting in the way of my personal and business life. I brought my issues to Dr. Alevy and he explained very simply: what was happening and why it was happening. He introduced me to a program that has helped me better understand how to look at and deal with the issues. We are not finished with our program but I have already had a lot of success and that feels great. I am rating him high because he knows exactly what he is doing and is very good at dealing with anxiety. He is easy to talk with and makes sure I understand each step before we move on.

When I started seeing Dr. Alevy for my depression and OCD, ( which I have had for as long as I can remember) I never thought psychotherapy would work. I didn't have a lot of hope in anything at that point BUT, I was wrong. I have only been seeing him for a couple months, but I feel better than I have in years. He is so knowledgable about these issues and truly set me at ease. He can always say what I can't, or offer examples of exactly what I am experiencing without me having to say it. With this, he is very reassurant in that progress can be made and life can be much more pleasurable. Don't wait years to get help like I did. You don't have to when there are doctors like Dr. Alevy.

Cognitive Therapy can be an important part of dealing with anxiety issues. My primary care doctor understood that and recommended that I try it in addition to the anxiety medications I was taking, and recommended Dr. Alevy. He has a non-clinical style and builds a rapport based on an understanding of the importance of trust in the healing process – and earns that trust. Dr. Alevy, has been an invaluable resource in my healing. He tailored my treatment to me personally – it wasn’t a “one size fits all” approach. If you are willing to work on issues and confront problems as he suggests, he can help you.

Dr. Alevy personifies an area in my mind that used to be nonexistent: a no-nonsense, prescriptive, parental "sense" of things. After being his patient, I grew this side of myself, albeit still a new side, that will need ongoing practice and attention. But I now know that I can trust myself to choose what thoughts to dwell on, and what thoughts to dismiss. The thoughts on which I choose to dwell I am now able to recognize (as friend or foe), describe and analyze, and re-think and re-formulate when necessary. I no longer feel beholden to a stew of impressions that I'm not sure are authentic to me or true to the situation I'm in. Dr. Alevy was extremely helpful to me, as I no longer feel like a victim of depression, as I once did. He is experienced, having treated patients for a number of years. He is also knowledgeable in recommending books to read, and specific thoughts to "think" in order to redirect and shape one's thought process.

I have suffered from depression and anxiety since I was a teen. I wanted to try CBT and my physician recommended Dr. Alevy. I have been involved in therapy for many years and would increase or decrease my visits depending on how I was doing. I have made more progress in 4 months than I have in the the last 20 years. I now believe that most therapists (social workers and counselors) do not have the skills or training to be treating the public. We choose therapists based upon their likability not on their effectiveness. Unfortunately, we are the ones who have to pay the price for unqualified mental health providers. If you are ready to do the work and get healthier, make an appointment and go see him. He is terribly bright and he will help you.
