Visiting Dr. Stevens was the worst experience I have EVER had at any doctors’ office and it left me shook for several days. I saw his PA first and she so happily explained how people leave bad reviews because they are not willing to receive the information, she gives them about diet and exercise. She came across very conceited and gave a lot of advice on my condition without even seeing my X-rays. Then after an hour wait! Dr Stevens came flying in the room and just started talking. Never introduced himself, asked who the patient was (was with my daughter), never asked me how I was feeling or any questions about my condition at all. I told him another Dr. told me I had slipped disks and needed spinal surgery. He said professional doctors such as himself don’t use the term “slipped discs” and he can’t help what other doctors say. I told him he was being very condescending in his approach with me. He didn’t care and his approach and tone just got worse. I felt he was looking down on me. He wasn’t listening to what I was saying. He couldn’t grasp I wasn’t having a problem with his diagnosis, it was his approach and demeanor. He talked about HIS arthritis for a good 5 minutes and how he is a great surgeon who makes money on surgeries. He is condescending, a narcissist, aggressive and uncaring. I’m surprised he has positive reviews. Worst Dr EVER! I will be filing a discrimination complaint.

f you were treated like garbage by Dr Stevens or His P.A. Amy and are on any sort of state assistance, Medicare or don't have top notch insurance and have experienced rude, aggressive and unwillingness to help with your pain or injury, I highly recommend filing a discrimination complaint with the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services as well as the Arizona Department of economic security and department of health services. You can also file a grievance through Medicare.

Very unprofessional, borderline angry, massively condescending.

I saw him as a second consult about sciatica pain after changes in my symptoms over ten months. When I told him I was concerned about the changes, and that my other doctor wasn't addressing said concerns, he immediately raised his voice, became dismissive, and argumentative. Instead of asking more questions or investigating, or even explaining why I shouldn't be concerned, he treated me like I was a waste of time, borderline insulting me. Compassion, dignity, he couldn't be bothered; If you don't want an injection hit the road. I'm still shocked.

Maybe he doesn't understand that I'm the patient, in pain, worried about the future for my back and have a lot of questions. Maybe I was making him late for happy hour, who knows.

It has been 4 years now since Dr. Williams surgically removed a cyst pressing on my spine and gave me my life back. When I initially went for a consultation I was in such unbearable, excruciating pain I could barely move. The pain went down the nerves in my leg and I could no longer lie down. Numerous other physicians had told me surgery could leave mr paralyzed or I could die. His years of experience and his superior, outstanding, exceptional surgical skills put him in a rank above other doctors. He freed me from continuing a life of pain. I will be forever grateful to him. -Leslie London, Scottsdale, Arizona

Dr. Stevens did my back surgery on May 5, 2003. I awoke from surgery with a total paralyzed right leg! I don't think he prepared himself for this difficult surgery! I have suffered every day since then! I had to give up all my sport's and any walking activities. I am now using an electric scooter and basically confined to the house!
Thanks Dr. Stevens for ruining my active life! He is never out of my mind! I hope he remembers what he did to me 16 years ago this Sunday!
I would NOT recommend him for back surgery!

Not sure if he was disappointed I wasn’t a surgical candidate or just woke up in a very bad mood...he didn’t ask me a single questions about my symptoms or history of my pain...absolute waste of my time

It is unfortunate that some patients have poor reviews for Dr. Stevens. He is one of the best in the Valley for complex deformities. My husband became a patient of Dr. Stevens over 14 yrs ago. He is straight forward, knowledgeable and and excellent Dr. If you are looking for a quick fix or want to hear miracle cures, then this is not the place to go. Would highly recommend him for honesty and not necessarily always recommending surgery. Surgery is not always the answer!

Dr W. Stevens was not knowledgeable. He didnt even refer me for an MRI with very painful lower back pain, lastI knew i had 3 bulged discs. Wanted to see how I was doing. He was in a hurry too. Not helpful at all. Will not return. Waste of money and my time. Took more time filling out paperwork than being seen properly.

I had a 7 level fusion in Jan. '16 & it was a disaster. I had excruciating pain as there were screws pressing on several nerves. I had trouble walking due to a terrible hip drop/limp from muscles affected by impinged nerves at L4 & L5. I fell several times & made little progress in PT. In Nov. '16, I sought a 2nd & 3rd opinion & was referred to Dr. Stevens. He did a masterful job-fusing 2 more levels & then spent nearly 5 hours moving hardware off & away from nerves. Immediately after surgery my limp was 90% gone & I had better muscle strength. It's been 4 months & I'm almost back to normal. Those nerves had been impinged for almost a year so I still needed PT.
I am so grateful that I was referred to Dr. Stevens. He is a superb surgeon and I highly recommend him.

I love this office. I was fortunate to be able to work with Dr. Stevens & his NP, Sana. She was extremely helpful and very genuine. She took time to explain to me what my issue was. She even showed me a video of the problem when I was confused. Dr. Stevens is amazing as well. He is very direct and doesn't sugar coat anything. I love that in a surgeon and I appreciate it. He is also VERY conservative. I am sure I can find someone to give me surgery, but I trust both Dr. Stevens and Sana. I highly recommend this office for your healthcare needs.
