Has no regards for your symptoms and seemed very disinterested when talking on the phone. I have never met a doctor so uninterested in what I had to say.

Dr. Tanney is a very nice man. Agreed with other reviewers that he seems to have more of a wait-and-see approach to treatment. Visits are typically quite short and uneventful.

All people should be their own best advocate and be responsible for their health, but we all must rely on our doctors to help us manage our health and keep us informed to make the best decisions for our health. Dr. Tanney is not the best doctor to partner with. He does have a strong wait and see approach which is fine but he doesn't delve deeper into potential problems. He never seems rushed, but still seems to spend very little time with the patient. He appears to be cold and uncaring to the medical issues of his patient.

Dr. Tanney mis-diagnosed my stepdaughter who had emergency surgery the day she saw him with Gall stones. She was told she is too young to have Gall Stones. She ended up having 21 removed later that day. I was also mis-diagnosed with 2 ligament tears in my left wrist. I was told to wear a carpel tunnel brace for 2 weeks while he was out of town. I visited a hand surgeon to find out I had 2 torn ligaments in my wrist. I ended up having surgery with pins put in my wrist. When I called Dr. Tanney to let him know what happened he was not concerned and told me to have a nice day. I never returned to him. My wife had a MI in 2005 and didn't even know it because Tanney did not inform her of it.

Untrustworthy. Doctor Tanney is an adequate doctor, but the bureaucracy that surrounds his office is appalling and substantially threatens Dr. Tanney's ability to provide medical care. I have been calling for the past 5-6 months requesting a billing miscoding change which would cause us to foot the bill. After 3 months, I was finally able to reach Christina Harrington (who every other time failed to call me back), the supervisor in charge of these decisions. She lied to me in a voice mail she left me and told me she and Dr. Tanney agreed they would correct the miscode. They neglected to make changes and didn't even respond to the coding change request, and according to Dr. Tanney's own office, too much time elapsed so they could not make the changes - and we would have to pay for the payment - all because THEY failed to deal with the issue. They didn't even give me the decency to explain what happened- I had to call almost every day to try to piece together it myself.

My family has used this office for 20 years. Dr. Tanney is very helpful. He does tend to treat conditions with a "tincture of time", meaning that he doesn't over prescribe. Sometimes he feels that the best treatment, at least for minor conditions, is monitoring. My daughter dislikes this, but my wife and I have come to appreciate it. We did, however, originally think that maybe it was because we are in an HMO. We're fine with him now, based on experience. As we have aged, we have found that his standards change. As tests and procedures become more recommended (we are over 50 now), he is ready and willing to do everything that seems needed. I must say that we are quite healthy, but we have had some issues and he has been very good. Highly recommend.
