Very aloof and unfriendly. I hope that I am never sick while he is my doctor!

I have been a patient of Dr. Somero's for 15 years and am heartbroken that he is moving his practice to Florida. When I began seeing him my t-cells were 21 and was battling pulmonary KS. My provider told to go home and put my affairs in order, that I wouldn't see Christmas (this was around thanksgiving 1998. I switched to Dr. Somero and today, my tcells are over 615 and my immune system hasn't this healthy since I seroconverted 30 years ago. His office staff was always professional and consistent. I live 300 miles away from this physician and I still make the drive every 3 months as I have yet to find an HIV specialist with the knowledge base this doctor has and I will miss him and his staff. I wish him all the luck in his new ventures and I know that Ft. Lauderdale has gained an outstanding physician.

Unprofessional office staff can make a dr lose his patients. Tone & patience mean more than realized, especially due to the fact where illness is concerned

Right hand man, Nancy, can be threatening. Be sweet and you'll go farther, but not much. She can be detrimental to your healthcare because she likes to play by the rules... which she makes up along the way. As for Dr. Somero. He's like a roll of Bounty. He'll absorb everything you have to say, but rarely returns anything of value. He's not a powerhouse of knowledge, and for a doctor who treats AIDS patients in Palm Springs, he gets higher marks than he deserves. He's someone you might want to be friends with, but when you leave his office, you won't see or hear from him again until your next appointment. Walgreen's once put me on a waiting list because he never returns calls from pharmacists. He also doesn't fill out prescriptions accurately and his prescriptions have been refused... NEXT

Staff is like butting up against a linebacker. Very unyielding and not accommodating with scheduling even with a distressed patient.
