I have been going to Dr. Berchuck for almost 5 years. I have always been pleased with the care I received from him and his staff. He is quiet but has a compassionate and gentle nature. The nurses and PA Kim have always been kind and understanding. My care at Duke Cancer Center has always been excellent.

Dr Berchuck preformed surgery on me in Jan 2000. He, and his staff, were very professional and caring. I would definately return to Dr Berchuck in the event I needed a top notch Dr. that I could trust to help me. Penny Porter

I love Dr. Berchuck. He is the BEST!! He is the reason I am alive today. I am a 3 1/2 year, stage IIIC Ovarian Cancer survivor. After having tests in my local town that indicated Ovarian Cancer, I was told it would be several weeks before I could see the local GYN Oncologist. Not satisfied with that, I called Dr. Berchuck's office at Duke on Wednesday. By that Friday I had an appt. with him and after looking at my test results, he already had me scheduled for surgery on Tuesday. I then went through chemo and continue to have 3 month checkups. I feel Dr. Berchuck is VERY competent and has been very honest and forthright in our many discussions we have had. I couldn't be happier with the treatment and care I have received from Dr. Berchuck, Kim, Charlotte and the rest of his staff.

Dr. Berchuck has been my Dr. for two years. I trust him. As a graduate nurse from VCU, Medical College of VA, I feel I can be objective. He is not a handholding, coddling MD but he has a wonderful support staff that can provide that part of care.(maybe he is shy) It appears previous posters must be in the anger stage of their cancer diagnosis.Don't take it out on Dr. Berchuck.I almost died from a toxic chemo reaction at CH Cancer Center because of care primarily by interns without close supervision of Fellow or Attending MD. At Duke, your gyn cancer care is supervised by Dr. Berchuck and he is informed of any changes in labs, scans, etc. Dr. Berchuck is brilliant. You may only see him in the clinic for a short visit but he is working with his team all week and weekends to give his patients the best possible chance at winning the battle with cancer. I have only positive things to say about him and team. I am grateful to God and Dr. Berchuck that I am still living with ovarian cancer.

Dr. Berchuck and his team are very knowledgeable and caring and I have received the best possible treatment for my cancer. Duke is the best rated cancer center in the region and the new clinic provides a patient centered experience where all services are provided in one building.

Dr.Berchuck is one of a kind. He is very smart. He may lack in a little bed side manner. But I personally rather have the cognitive part of a person. Especially, when it deals with cancer. I have been going to him since 2009. I am still alive and owe it to him. The staff is always helpful. I think Duke is the place to be. I would not change my decision on going to Dr.Berchuck. He gets more personalable over time. I would rate him the highest dr. dealing with ovarion cancer. He is known all over the us. Doctors in MT knew his name. So that should tell you something..

The last straw was when Dr. Berchuck sent me for an ultrasound then had his nurse call me to schedule surgery without any explanation of why I required surgery. I transferred to UNC where I found a doctor who treated me with respect, took the time to explain why I needed surgery and did proper follow-up. Prior to tranferring to UNC, I also experienced long wait times, and had to constantly explain to Dr. Berchuck the purpose of my visit.

Terrible doctor. Did not spend much time with me at all. Overlooked my problem. You could easily tell he was looking at me just as another number instead of a patient and a human being. Never going to him again. Horrible. Can't believe Duke hired him. Definitely recommend any doctor other than him.

I was originally diagnosed stage IIIc in 12/2009 during hysterectomy/debulking and just had a subsequent surgery 03/2011 for recurrent. I feel I am getting the very best care that anyone can give me here on Earth! Duke GYN Oncology and Dr. Andrew Berchuck are credited with saving my life and I plan to be around a LOT longer with his help!

This man is saving my life, so of course, I think he is wonderful. I was diagnosed with Stage III Ovarian Cancer in December of 2009 and have achieved remission under his care. He is helping me get into a clincial trial to extend chemo for a potentially better result. I find him very easy to talk with and ask questions of. He is incredibly smart and his staff is wonderfully caring. Yes you have to wait a bit when you go to Surgical Oncology, unfortunately they are very busy there. They do a good job of caring for so many people with life threatening diseases. No matter how my disease turns out, Dr. Berchuck will alway be "my hero".
