I have had the misfortune of having 18 surgeries in my life. Three of them -- left and right shoulder, and a carpal tunnel were by Brodie Wood. The man has a gift, he is an enthusiastic artist with the scalpel. All he cares about is the best surgical result for the patient, and in my experience that is certainly what I got. I would take a bullet for Brodie Wood. That is not an exaggeration.

Personal opinion, I believe if the patient is an L&I patient, Wood is just after the money, but doesn't care about the aftercare of the patient. My husband had double knee replacement on the same day, and his experience was terrible. He had bruising and swelling for several months, and intense pain in his fake knees, which Wood checked out and just said, "I don't know what to tell you." My husbands knees lock up at night and sometimes he wakes up yelling. It scared me to death for awhile, but it doesn't happen every night anymore, and though his knees aren't right, there doesn't seem to be anything we can do about it. I would not go to Wood. I cannot confirm this, but I have been told by a nurse at St. Pete's whom is on the ortho floor that Wood has 2 OR's at his disposal at all times, and that way he can crank out the surgeries. It sounds like he does upwards of 8-10 surgeries in a day. Once your surgery is done, you are unimportant.

Dr. Brodie Wood is probably the best doctor I have ever come across. That is saying something as I was in nursing for 7 years. The hip replacement he performed for me is working great, and I was up and walking in about 1 week. Phenomenal! His PA, Steve Johns, is equal parts kind, thorough, caring, thoughtful and efficient. I recommend them every chance I get.

Personable, efficient knowledgeable and talented. Success rate is off the charts and while he does not engage in idle talk, he interacts freely on a personal basis.

I went to Dr Wood for about 20 Years. He did arthoscope on my right knee. Since then he has done my son's thumb, son-in-laws shoulder ( will bo soon doing his right knee). my right knee 18 months ago and is doing my left knee next month. Anyone that doesn't go to Dr Wood isn't getting the best there is.

I was injured in a fall in 2002.I had a botched knee operation at Tacoma Ortho by a Dr who has since left the area. Dr Wood saved my knee. After 6 procedures and finally, hesitantly a new knee and I can walk. Then 7 operations later on my shoulder, he's still the best in my book. My tendons are shredded, no fault of his. I have yet to meet a Dr with so much compassion and empathy. He's humorous and kind. Dr Wood truly care about his patients. I have been seeing him for 10 years now and would never go anywhere different. It was written up in our local newspaper that he was the best Ortho in the area. Lots of practice, on me alone, hahaha.. Try him. You're going to just be extremely happy you did :))
