Dr. Grymala is one of the best doctors I have ever felt with during my recovery. It's too bad he doesn't work at the Royal Ottawa anymore. He has helped so many patients.

Definitely the best Doctor I have ever had. Treats you with respect and caring. Takes the time to listen attentively and provides excellent feedback and recommendations. The Royal Ottawa and it's patients are very fortunate to have such an amazing doctor.

I first met Dr. Grymala in 2000, I was an out of control addict who only went into treatment the first time to make their family happy. I did the whole detox thing but got kicked out of the treatment centre for using. I spiralled out of control, I was forging Px’s including Dr. G. I ended up getting arrested for trying to strong arm narcotics from a pharmacy, did several months in jail and when I got out ROH was first place I went to. Dr. G refused to see me but Dr Schnere allowed me in the program. Day Dr G was supervising the unit I told him how sorry I was and that I would never do it again. He said “you’re not sorry, you’re sorry you got caught and you’re going to do it again and again” this well pissed me off and I was determined to prove him wrong, it’s been 19 years and I’m still clean and so the whole point of this was to show he knew what to say or rather what I needed to hear back then. He’s saved countless lives for people grappling with addiction

Dr. G probably saved or prolonged my life 26 years ago with his blunt, no nonsense approach. Got me into treatment at just the right time in my life and I haven't looked back. As for the negative reviews about how he didn't treat people how they wanted to be treated....looking back I had the same attitude toward him. But I was also a addict at that time and full of myself. I learned to respect someone's skills and experience a lot more since that time. A very good man indeed.

He is the best and most helpful and caring MD I have spoken to regarding my alcohol addiction. It amazes me how much he genuinely cares after all the years and the amount of people he's dealt with. I'll be leaving his care with excellent life advice.

Dr. Grymala has a great personality and seems genuinely committed to providing quality care to his patients. I would however flag that his sometimes abrasive style and overbearing style might be a little off putting to women going into addictions treatment who have histories of being victimized by powerful men. It would be a shame that this might deter certain women from seeking treatment, especially given his many other wonderdul attributes.

Dr. Grymala has been and is a wonderful doctor and councillor for my addiction problems. He has helped me for many many years in leading a sober and happy life. I want to thank him, and his staff, for his thoughtfulness and caring, not just for me, but also for my husband and family.

I went in to see someone for help with depression and drinking issues. Dr. Grymala was very opinionated without hardly listening to anything i had to say. I was cut off mid sentence several times. He lacked very much in the areas of empathy and listening skills. It is my opinion that he has been doing this job for way too long and needs to move on. Makes me sad that I left without any guidance to my issues and that i feel bad for anyone else who goes in for help.
