I attended Dr Weidman through a Work Cover Appointment. I found him to be a very knowlegable man in his field. He was very polite, listened and took notes, examined me to assess my injury and gave me very good advise. It was a pleasure to meet the gentleman.

A Dr hired by the insurance companies so they don't have to pay out. He downplays patients symptoms, belittles them and writes false reports. He does not care about patients at all. He has not practiced neurosurgy for many, many years. I wonder if he was forced to stop??? Yet he calls himself a neurosurgeon. He is not - merely a gun for hire for the insurance companies. When he did practice he put incompatible implants in patients then hides behind the strongest union in Australia. Don't go near him for a report.

Dr Weidman recently examined me as an independent specialist on workcovers'behalf.
I left his office after an 18 minute consult feeling confused and belittled. His consult was at best superficial, his opinion set ,after a quick look at one x ray.He displayed little interest in my volunteering relevant information re my condition. the report sent to work cover was everthing an insurance company could hope for.I cannot believe his assertion that previous surgery ( laminectomy two discs ) has no bearing on pain at same site .Nor that A O changes again at same site , but nowhere else in spine are a result of age.I hope not to suffer because of his lack of professionalism , but believe I will..I have been moved to report my encounter here but will pursue any and all avenues to expose this Dr.

This Dr operated on me and the impant that he put in my neck disintegrated. It was recalled however he never notified me and I was walking around with a big hole in my spine. No Dr in Brisbane would help - ??? They didn't want to get involved. Finally I found a Dr interstate that took out the 'crumbled' implant and ended up rebuilding 3 vertebrae and 4 discs - all from what was meant to be a simple single herniated disc originally. I have lost my house, and am unable to work. I have 3 degrees but cannot do anything due to the severe pain. My surgeon (who tried to repair it) said that I could have easily been a quad or died. Has anyone had a problem with this implant?? This Dr now does reports for medical insurance. In other words makes sure patients get graded mildly so they don't get much if any compensation.

I saw Dr Weidmann at the end of a long Workcover claim, after getting the same comments from 6 other orthos in Brisbane. Dr Weidmann was polite to my face, but his expensive report to Workcover was full of personal opinions that were not based on medical facts or my own medical history. He claimed that although Carpal Tunnel was mainly found in middle aged women, I was 'most likely' going to develop it even without work factors. Surprising, as I am a male. He apparently likens CTS to cancer. Some people are just going to get it no matter what. Seems to be his personal hobby horse rather than medical opinion. His report severely reduced the amount of my claim. A Workcover gun for hire indeed, as noted by another former patient.

Gave opinions on surgeries he had never undertaken, although he claimed to have done them. Advised me to do physio just to please workcover although he said "it's a waste of time to be frank". Told me he was still performing surgery however he is retired. This mans integrity is highly questionable and his report will be based on what the referring insurer requires it to say. He most definitely takes the "I" out of IME. His bogus report has caused me many months of pain, stress and financial difficulty that could have been avoided with an honest examination.

WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS MAN TO ANYONE. Complaint was made to QLD Health Commission due to the sheer horror experienced in his office. He is indeed an 'Expert for Hire'. Was extremely rude and dismissive. Seemed to form an opinion before patient opened their mouth. Talked down patient - asked questions, but then did not listen to/cut off patient's answers. Made an extremely inappropriate comment and did not carry out physical examination - when questioned on this, he did a 2 second 'examination' only to appease partner's request, but did not measure specifics. This man has no place in the health system - I feel he is doing more harm than good. I agree with other reviews - his income is derived from reports for insurance companies. So long as he provides the answers they want to hear, they will keep on paying him, and he will keep on working - it is a vicious cycle where both the insurance companies and himself win, and the injured party once again loses and is further disillusioned.

Provides workcover an'Expert's Report' without even examining the injured worker. I believe is known in legal circles as an 'Expert for hire' for insurance companies.
