If you're seeing Dr. Shankar for anything time sensitive, urgent, etc, don't waste your time. His staff are amazing and helpful, and have been nothing but kind to me. However, Dr. Shankar has time and time again taken months to complete paperwork for me, which most of the time was simply something that just required a signature.
Dr. Shankar routinely comes off as disorganized, and doesn't seem to communicate effectively with his receptionists / assistants. It just feels super all over the place, and nothing ever gets done on time, or ever for that matter.
If you have the ability to see anyone else, do it. Unless you like waiting around for months.

The only good thing that came from my experience with Dr Shankar was my AuDHD diagnosis. He seems to have a decent understanding of adult autism (at least when it comes to the DSM criteria). I also like his receptionist.

That being said, I hope I never have to interact with this man ever again. He was incredibly fatphobic and harmful to me, I seriously think this man just hates fat people. I disclosed my history of eating disorders which included severe restriction and he continued to tell me that I needed to lose weight, so much so that it felt like the focus of our appointments when I was there to see him to discuss my brain. Additionally, it took him over 2 months to complete the paperwork from our sessions and when I finally did recieve it, it was thrown together without care, with fundamental errors and contradictions, focusing disproportionately on my weight again, and completely missing a portion of my diagnosis! To take months to get the paperwork completed and then for it to arrive carelessly thrown together was extremely frustrating. I don't think he enjoys his practice anymore and frankly, he should retire.

I have dealt with Dr Shankar for years and he has always been wonderful. Not sure what anyone else is talking about because he has ALWAYS remembered me, explained things, the staff has always returned my calls and overall I’ve had wonderful interactions and experiences with him. He’s extremely knowledgeable and gives the BEST advice. He’s patient and calm and helps me see things from a different perspective. I’d be dead without his help. If you put in the effort, he’s always willing to help you. Had many doctors before him misdiagnose me and put me on wrong meds, he’s the only one who ever got it right! 10/10 would recommend dr Shankar!

BEEN TRYING TO GET AHOLD OF HIM FOR OVER A MONTH. keeps prescribing the wrong prescriptions everytime, and I get harrassed at the pharmacies because of this mans mistakes. Better off without medicateion because this guy makes your mental health even worse. Horrible horrible horrible.. He wont remember anything about you, and gives you horrible life advice.

Very disorganized, takes very long time to fill out paperwork. Doesn’t keep good records. Dr.Shankar always asks what meds I’m on. His receptionists never get back to me.

Dr Shankar has been incredibly helpful to me in treating my mental health. From diagnosis to treatment and he has an openness to trying different things when something isn’t working. In addition to diagnosis and medication management, he’s done Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with me which was life changing for my anxiety. He’s also provided coaching to help with management of ADHD symptoms.

This guy is a absolute waste of space, after I asked him why we were not making progress after 1 year he dismissed me! Just like that! Bye bye! go away! He never remembers you or your meds. Talks about himself all the time, Doesn't listen to you, talks over you. He is only in it for retirement. Part time multiple secretaries are never there. He is late alot, and once didn't show up or contact me. Couldn't get my adhd meds right so I could remember things, but billed me over 1200 dollars for 4 missed appts. I have had several Dr in my time for anx,dep,intro,soc,adhd issues, he is BY FAR the WORST, coldest, most inattentive "doctor" I have ever seen. What a waste of a year of my life. Stay away, Literally anyone is better than this"waiting to retire" guy.
