Discharged me when I needed him most, because I could not go for awhile due to a serious medical illness

This doc is a useless burnt out lightbulb. Won't do anything worthwhile. Human detritus.

This doctor put me on meds for bipolar, without telling me why he was putting me on the meds. He put me on a high dose of an anti-psychotic drug that turned me into a zombie. I was always late for work, felt incredibly dull and lifeless throughout the day, and could barely function. All I wanted to do was sleep. On my second or third appointment, he asked me what dose I was on. I couldn't remember. Then he yelled at me for not knowing what dose I was on. I got defensive and told him he was the doctor, he should know. I ended up walking out of that appointment. Later, I saw a note in my family doctor's file from Shankar blatantly lying and stating that I was neurotic and hard to deal with. This quack shouldn't be practicing.

Who ever wrote that comment from April 2018 should be punished. Obviously they have the wrong doctor. He does not have a son. He is not married and does not have a cottage. Does not drink. Sorry buddy. Pick on the right person and get your story straight.

Dr, Shankar is my Dr. Nice enough man, but the way he operates his practice leads one to believe he is in it for the money. To many rules. For a psychiatrist he should be more compassionate, understanding and flexible.

I had my first appointment this week. Despite waiting over an hour to see him I completely broke down in his office. First doctor I have spoken to who recognizes the seriousness of my mental health issues and took action. He was compassionate, kind and very informative. He was open minded and I felt no judgment while I seen him for almost 3 hours spilling years of self harm history and challenges. He immediately started talking about treatment options and was careful and asked many questions before proscribing medications. I am thankful I got to see him and hope there is more improvement in the future while I am in his care.

Terrible doctor. He’s phoning it in until he can retire. Uninformed and forgetful. There’s a reason he has a shorter waiting list than other doctors. I’ve been seeing him 4 years and I’m worse off than when I started. I’ve had my family doctor refer me elsewhere. I will miss Cathy though, she’s a gem!

I have been seeing Dr Shankar for over 16 years. I would not be where I am today if it was not for him. He has helped me through a lot in all those years. I know if I need to see him, all I have to do is call.
Cathy his secretary is amazing. She knows her work and calls you back when you leave a message even if though she only works afternoons. She calls to remind you of your appointment which no other doctors office do any more.
I have referred many people to Dr Shankar and I will continue doing so.

Staff is very friendly, but cannot give it full marks due to the fact his secretary is only there in the afternoon to answer calls/set up appointments. I am thankful he was able to quickly diagnose my condition, as well as discuss medicine options. However, I do feel the appointments are a little scripted, will ask you the same sequence of questions (every appointment) but leave you little room to elaborate before jumping on the next question. I am glad the core symptoms are being managed by medication, but the therapy portion of his appointments are severely lacking. I leave my appointments with a medication refill, and that is all. It would be nice to get a little bit more take away information/suggestions I should be doing so we can discuss it in the next appointment. Usually wait about 15 minutes prior to actual appointment time in waiting room, but that isn't all that bad compared to some doctors.
