Been seeing him for years. Only issue is talking to the receptionist on the phone. Very heavy accent makes it difficult, but not impossible.
Doesn't hesitate to refer to specialists or order tests - if they are warranted. His thoroughness has saved me a lot of problems because he listens, asks questions, makes the correct diagnosis. Not once has a specialist Dr Ying has sent me to has ever disagreed with the diagnosis he made.
Took me and my family on as patients even though he was not accepting new patients at that time. A rarity now.

Dr. Ying was very thorough and explained things clearly. He let me know why I needed to come in person vs. a phone consult and what my options are after the assessment. Everything made sense and I definitely felt well informed. He is polite and kind, and I did not feel rushed at all. I saw him at a clinic but forgot to ask if he has private practice too.

Staff are helpful but sometimes 1 has difficulty with English. Her accent also makes her difficult to understand, especially on the phone. Sometimes they seem quite disorganized.
Yes, like every other doctor I've ever seen, sometimes he's running behind. Sometimes he's ahead and you're in and out before your scheduled appointment.
Dr. Ying is very professional, asks questions and gives clear, concise explanations of his diagnosis, the treatment plan and whatever testing he orders. If he doesn't have time to talk about a secondary issue, he will tell you and advise you to make another appointment. You go for a medical appointment, not a social engagement!

He will change his attitude and treat you differently after knowing your background. He would not prescribe me a medication that I need due to his lack of knowledge until I mentioned that my wife is a specialist. When I first told him that my wife is a doctor, he becomes more interested in knowing where she practices and whether she graduated med school from some 3rd world country (because I am Iranian) than taking my medical history concisely. The shift in bedside manner is ridiculous after he learns that my wife practices locally and graduated from a Canadian med school more renowned than his; I was then able to leave with the medication that I need in the end. When I went back to Coast Medical again to see any doctor but him, the new doctor instantly mentioned my wife's name because Raymond apparently needs to type this in my chart as part of my medical history. Don't be surprised by the positive and negative reviews on this doctor. He is very pretentious! If he treats you nicely and you don't have a background, this is most likely because he got the feeling that you are a vocal patient who will not hesitate to leave him a review. Lastly, doctors being on time for their scheduled patient appointments is not a priority at Coast Medical. You will easily wait >30 minutes for a ~10 minute appointment like a walk-in patient with no appointment, which defeats the purpose of scheduling a time.

I have been a patient of Dr. Ying for many years and I must say that I am very satisfied with him. Sometimes there is a wait but that is the nature of medicine. The doctor never knows what will happen each day and it only takes one emergency or difficult case to cause a back-up in the appointment times. If you are the reason for the back-up then you will appreciate the extra time he gives to you. If he seems rushed then he is probably trying to get back on schedule. Be patient. I find him to be very thorough and he takes time to record each visit on his computer. Often I come to resolve one issue and he checks carefully to see if there are any outstanding tests, vaccinations etc that are now due. He has referred me to specialists and he researches to help find the best one. He is always polite and explains fully what he is doing or recommends for my treatment and I can see that he cares to do his best for the patient. I am impressed.

I'm really surprised by the negative comments on here. I just saw Dr Ying and it was the best experience I've had with a doctor in a long time. When he came in he had obviously reviewed my file carefully (I usually see another doc in the same clinic). He knew of all the blood tests I had taken in the last year, my prescriptions and even where I work. This despite the fact it's a super busy clinic and i was only in on a one-off visit because my regular doc wasn't available. He was thorough, asked all the right questions and offered me testing "just to be safe". He had a pleasant manner and was super professional. It was a quick visit - but that's just the way things are these days. I would consider switching over to him from my current GP based on that visit. Really impressed with his professionalism - he explained his thinking to me on my condition and encouraged me to come back in if necessary. He also made time for a wee bit of small talk which was nice. Overall a great experience and i was impressed.

I've seen Dr. Ying three times now and I give up - he is terrible. He's always very late for the appointment and he has poor knowledge. He does not listen to what I have to say and he simply does not care. He's always rushing to end the appointment and he does not let me finish my sentences. I've been having tinnitus for 6 months now and he insists that I just have water in my ears, and that this is going to solve by itself, even though the ENT already examined me and said that I do not have water in my ears! I'll never come back to see him.

Had to wait for 30 minutes after having entered the examination room as Dr. Ying was 'finishing up some notes' - I thought he had forgotten about me. Upon entering, he was rushing to get out the door and didn't even have the respect to let me finish my sentences. After having some blood work come back with concerning results and requesting re-tests following some lifestyle changes, he refused to offer the requisition forms for follow-up tests, and was dismissive of my concerns (where as the initial Dr who reviewed my blood work was very concerned). Will make an effort to avoid when going back to this clinic, as the majority of the other Drs appear to be genuinely concerned about their patients' health. He is obviously in it to collect fees from as many patients as possible, is a great demonstration of why people avoid Drs in general, and will likely be responsible for basic preventable/chronic ailments due to negligence.
