Due to limited options, I have to see Dr. Law. Would I recommend him to others? No.
-He often brings his dogs into his office. This is unsanitary. This is in clear view of patience. There is a gate to prevent the dogs from leaving one of the rooms. I have mentioned this to him and was met with a rude rebuttal and poor excuse "it's only temporary". I have gone to his office multiple times and seen his dogs.
-He is rude and does not take the time to explain. I understand that he is busy, but his role as a health practitioner is to support the public.

I have will be reporting him to theCollege Of Optometrists Of British Columbia as soon as I no longer have to see him. If you are able to ask for another referral, I recommend it.

Looking for the very best ophthalmologist? Then you’ve come to the right place…I’m very particular about everything I choose, especially medical specialists! On top of it, I’m a Harvard University graduate and analyze all possibilities like a smart scientist.

Dr. Francis Law was recommended to me from a trusted friend and I understand that he is often recommended by his own colleagues who feel that Dr. Law can handle ophthalmological challenges more adeptly than they can. Now that speaks volumes!

Dr Law is a clinical professor in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of British Columbia. He is also a diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology. But his bedside manner is just as impressive.


I’m 57 years old and very recently had cataracts in both of my eyes. Naturally, I was apprehensive when I was first diagnosed with cataracts by an optometrist because I knew nothing of the procedure and just the thought of either a laser or small blade coming towards my eye made me feel uneasy of course.

My fears were eradicated once I arrived at Dr. Frances Law’s office which was full of patients. That’s a good sign. It means he’s in demand and I soon discovered why. Considering how busy the waiting room was, I didn’t have to wait too long because his office staff is efficient and friendly. They make you feel like family.

Would you want to frequent a restaurant that was empty at prime meal times? Of course not! So it was assuring to see how many people turn to Dr. Law for his skills.

Previously, I had an appointment with another ophthalmologist and they were abrupt and impatient and literally said if I didn’t have the procedure I would go blind. That may be true, but that scare tactic is a little harsh for my likings and that office had too much of an assembly line feel.

Dr. Francis Law is a breath of fresh air. He spends time with you and encourages questions. He really cares and listens intently. And he welcomes emails directly to him at any time if you have further questions . I knew in my heart right there and then that he was the one to best perform my eye surgery.

I have now had both of my cataracts removed. I had my dominant eye set for distance and my non dominant for near. This is commonly known as monovision. Both surgeries were quick, painless and very successful with no complications. Dr. Law’s skill set was a joy to experience. My vision hasn’t been this vibrant and colourful and sharp since my childhood!!!

I was in awe of his precise workmanship while on the operating table. It’s almost as if you’re taking a quick trip to heaven. The music Dr. Law had on in the operating room on both occasions was enjoyable and visually it’s kind of like a drive though car wash where all you see is gentle pastel colours beyond the suds! And he is truly right there with you at every moment. So comforting. I was washed over with gratefulness during each surgery as my new artificial intraocular lens (IOL) was inserted. Surreal I tell ya! A game changer!!

Dr. Francis Law is exceptional in every way and I highly recommend him! I just wish I had additional eyes for him to revitalize.

Dr. Francis Law is a very knowledgeable and skillful surgeon. He answered all my questions concerning the cataract surgery and the choices of lens. I am very myopic . He explained my condition in a realistic, clear and succinct way. Now after the surgery, my vision has improved and I am able to function much better than before. He also has an excellent team of staff. I am very grateful for the manager Angela who eases my anxieties and worries. I want to express my thanks towards clinicians Veronica who is so skillful in doing all the eye measurements and her colleague (whose name I do not know) in performing the post-op macular check up. The office staff Terry, Daisy and Brenda are also great in helping me with appointments . Dr. Law and his team are Trilingual in English, Cantonese and Mandarin. I have witnessed how kind and supportive they are towards other patients

I have been Dr. Law's patient for a couple of years now and first started seeing him because of a persistent irritation in my eye. Another doctor had prescribed drops that did not seem to help. Dr. Law was able to correctly diagnose the real problem within a very short time. I was so impressed! Recently, he did my cataract surgery and I couldn't be happier with the results which prompted me to write this review. I have had to wear glasses from a very young age and had a very high prescription. I was a bit nervous going through the tests and wasn't sure about the lens that I should use. I decided to trust the doctor and his technicians and the lenses that he and his staff had recommended to me is perfect! My distance vision is so clear and I am also able to read the newspaper from a comfortable distance. I am so surprised that I could even see fine print on bottle labels now without the need for reading glasses. Special thank you to Angela, his clinic manager, for being so understanding and patiently answering all my questions.

Exceptional experience and results.
Was referred to Dr. Law by another surgeon - "excellent hands and judgment". Definitely an understatement. Dr. Law replaced my cloudy lenses with multifocals (January 29th and February 23rd). Skied two days after the 1st surgery; 2 days after the 2nd - perfect vision blew me away. Am seeing things around me that I never noticed before. Am able to read perfectly.
Dr. Law's staff - organized, focused, courteous and efficient. Cambie Clinic ditto- the ideal location for my surgery.
Thank you Dr. Law. Results - perfect vision - all distances -excellent definition and colour, just wonderful. Cost - excellent value - worth every penny. I can see like a hawk for the first time in my life. Thank you very very much Dr. Law! What a gift.
