It is hard to know how knowldgeable a person is when they don't like answering reasonable questions such as 1) Does spending 14 hrs screen time a day causing the flashes in my one eye? Answer. No it does not work that way. 2) I have been using eye drops because I was concerned that dryness might be contributing to the tearing of my retina. Answer: It doesn't work that way. 3) What can I do to improve the health of my eye? Answer: Stop aging

I don't find this doctor helpful. Perhaps he has forgotten that many people are very concerned and scared even over what they are experiencing and most of us are not eye specialists. So giving passive aggressive answers don't help. I asked four questions and the last one he was answering while he was walking away from me. He couldn't even spend the few seconds it takes to stand in place and talk to me as a decent person would. I find that rude and disrespectful. My experiences with him have given me the impression that it's all about getting through as many patients as possible but not about patient care.

I saw Dr Ma after being referred through emergency to him for retinal detachment. He did the surgery the next morning and saved the vision in my left eye.

He is outstanding. I trust him entirely. God bless this man and his loved ones.

Upon leaving Dr. Ma’s office I was told that he is no longer coming to Nanaimo and I have been referred to another retinologist. He never mentioned this to any of his patients, it seems, because everyone was shocked like me. Now I am on a wait list for another doctor, and I have degenerative eye condition that cannot be ignored.
I am so upset that he didn’t give his patients any warning at all. I have no idea when this new doctor will see me.
Doctor Ma has been great, but this was very unprofessional.

From start to finish, real lyprofessionally obviously conscientious staff. I felt dealt with honestly, and sincerely. Accepted my explanations of self treatment with positive aplume. And all 4 people seemed out to help.

Dr. Ma is excellent, really knowledgeable and trustworthy. The waiting room can be kind of crazy busy so that it feels like you're in a bus station, but that seems to be the nature of a hectic practice and having a lot of staff to administer tests. Did a great job with my eye injections.

I have been receiving injections in my eye from Dr. Ma over the last few months. He is so good with freezing that I have not once felt the needles. As well, he is very knowledgeable about the latest meds that will help my condition.

Dr. Ma lasered my retina a few years ago and recently fixed a hole in my macula. Excellent doctor. I trust him completely.
