My now adult son has gone to Dr Valenti since he was 16. He is now 27. A little over three weeks ago he saw Dr Valenti due to depression issues and was prescribed an anti depressant and told it can take a few weeks to work and may need tweaking and or changing depending on results which we were aware of. After two weeks someone called him and left message they were checking on how he is doing and to please call back. No name left. I called back and informed them he didn't seem to be responding and it wasn't helping at this time and then put my son on phone to expand how he was. In the end, she said she would grab Dr Valenti between patients and ask what the next step would be. Two hours later I received a call back from her, not Dr Valenti, telling me to take him to Dominion Hospital, a mental facility. Five days later I am still stunned and can't wrap my head around what transpired.
1. Son was told sometimes drugs need adjusting and tweaking, nope that wasn't offered.
2. Dr Valenti didn't even have the compassion to speak with my son direct to perhaps evaluate and see if this treatment was appropriate (clear to me it was way over the top)
3. Lets just say it was, shouldn't a dr at least have the time to deliver and explain this recommendation to patient himself?
4. My son was now in a position with no options as he wasn't going to a mental hospital and was clearly discarded like a piece of garbage. My dog gets better treatment from my vet.
All said and done I am so disappointed and in disbelief in these events that occurred. There is more to come once I get my son the help and care he deserves, but now my efforts are on him. This event will never be forgotten and I want everyone to know about this treatment.
