My now adult son has gone to Dr Valenti since he was 16. He is now 27. A little over three weeks ago he saw Dr Valenti due to depression issues and was prescribed an anti depressant and told it can take a few weeks to work and may need tweaking and or changing depending on results which we were aware of. After two weeks someone called him and left message they were checking on how he is doing and to please call back. No name left. I called back and informed them he didn't seem to be responding and it wasn't helping at this time and then put my son on phone to expand how he was. In the end, she said she would grab Dr Valenti between patients and ask what the next step would be. Two hours later I received a call back from her, not Dr Valenti, telling me to take him to Dominion Hospital, a mental facility. Five days later I am still stunned and can't wrap my head around what transpired.

1. Son was told sometimes drugs need adjusting and tweaking, nope that wasn't offered.
2. Dr Valenti didn't even have the compassion to speak with my son direct to perhaps evaluate and see if this treatment was appropriate (clear to me it was way over the top)
3. Lets just say it was, shouldn't a dr at least have the time to deliver and explain this recommendation to patient himself?
4. My son was now in a position with no options as he wasn't going to a mental hospital and was clearly discarded like a piece of garbage. My dog gets better treatment from my vet.

All said and done I am so disappointed and in disbelief in these events that occurred. There is more to come once I get my son the help and care he deserves, but now my efforts are on him. This event will never be forgotten and I want everyone to know about this treatment.

I have been with the practice for many years. I echo the concerns from other patients. The staff is arrogant, indifferent and not at all helpful. You can never get a human being on the phone and voice mails are returned whenever they feel like it. Their mantra is "call 911 if you are in a hurry, " like the costs for an ambulance or a visit to the ER come from their pocket, not mine. With regard to Dr. John, himself, I find him very friendly, approachable, but utterly useless for anything except routine maintenance. I have had several health issues that I brought up to his attention and while he lent a sympathetic ear, the end result was not useful at all. I went for a second opinion and found more than one solution he did not even contemplate. Needless to say, I am now with another practice who is not an assembly line of patients. I am afraid they are more concerned with making money and pushing through as many people as possible, not necessarily in getting the proper health improvement for the patients.

Dr. Valenti has been my doctor for over 20 years, and has seen me through everything from sinus infections to surgeries. I find that he listens well, explains medical issues clearly, and values his patients' input during visits. While in the past, staff members haven't always been on top of their game, the current staff is very responsive. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Doctor Valenti and his staff are great. I am shocked and astounded at the negative comments. They all ring untrue to me and not at all consistent with what I have observed and experienced over the 10 plus years I have used this office for everything from annual check ups, emergencies and interventions. The anominity of Internet critiques and the lack of accountability of the critic inspire falsehoods and spite. These reviews strike me as totally unreliable.

I like Dr. Valenti and I am sorry to leave his practice, but Internal Medicine has the worst staff I have ever seen, and I've seen many since I am quite old. His staff its the worst combination of high self esteem, arrogance, and incompetence. It is hard to reach anyone and when you leave a message they respond whenever, and then their attitude is rude and indifferent. Try to do a refill or settle and insurance issue! You make phone after phone and nothing is done. I think the practice should pay workers more and get some which are better, otherwise they will lose customers.

I went to see Dr. Shah in this practice for years and was fairly happy. However, the practice seemed to change. On a couple of I saw Dr. Valenti. I was very disappointed. I had been in the hospital because of a severe allergic reaction and Dr. Valenti didn't seem at all interested in helping me get to the bottom of what happened. It took me days to get an appointment, even after I had been in the hospital. And, he basically told me he couldn't help me. He didn't even try to refer me to an allergist. This same practice really gave a hard time to my husband. He hadn't been sick in a while and so hadn't been in the office for a couple of years. When he called to set up an appointment they told him he had been purged from their list and they weren't interested in seeing him because he hadn't been there recently enough for them. This practice is far more interested in pharmaceutical swag and benefits than they are treating their patients.

I have NO idea what these previous ( negative ) comments are all about pertaining to Dr. Valenti's staff. Obviously - someone posting these negative comments are NOT being truthful and have something else on their agenda planned. I have found Dr. Valenti to be an EXCELLENT doctor, very sincere, very thorough and at the " Top of his game". For his staff, I have NEVER had any issues what-so-ever and they all been very professional, courteous and eager to attend to any concerns or needs that I have had. Basically, I'll state it again - all the previous negative comments are baloney !!
