Dr. Lai was quick to tell me I needed custom orthotics for my ailment. However, there was no mention of price until I was checking out with the receptionist. Furthermore, I was instructed by my physician to bring my shoes to Dr Lai during my first visit but he did not give much importance to them. He then prescribed medication which a) was not covered under extended health and b) was not appropriate for my condition as confirmed by a second podiatrist and lack of improvement in my condition. Considering I had a foot ailment, he did not do as much as I hoped for from a foot specialist in terms of seeking a diagnosis and suggesting potential resolutions. Instead, Dr Lai was very steadfast that surgery and injections would be the next step. For as much as an initial consultation cost is with podiatrists, I would steer clear and visit a different clinic.

After reading "The best Reviews of Podiatrists in Burnaby," I called Dr Lai's office to make an appointment for my foot problems. During examination, Dr Lai told me that it would take him 10 to 15 minutes to build a mold for a thin layer of orthotics to support my feet. I hesitated right away after asking the price of the orthotics - $500. He gave me three possible treatment plans depending on severity of problems. They ranged from $500 to $3,500. When asked to treat the sore spot on my feet, Dr Lai said that I could have done it myself and since I had been asking too many questions, he had no time for me as his next patient was waiting. He left abruptly. After consultation, I had a feeling that I was talking to a businessman whose main interest is profit-making rather than a podiatrist who had any interest in the care of my feet problems. Obviously your feet will be well-taken care of when your pockets are filled with gold. It is not worth paying $140 for a consultation then being pushed out of the door and having to wait for the next follow-up for treatment only if I am lucky enough not to ask any more questions but accept expensive treatment without protest.

Quick to see me, talked me through the entire procedure. Very professional and friendly. Had to do a Toenail resection and he got it done efficiently and quickly. Highly recommended if you have to deal with an ingrown toenail, this guy will take care of you.
