I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! Except when it may contain traces of something. And it’s not supposed to. And you may be allergic.
In mid-April, the U.S Food and Drug Administration alerted consumers to the fact that limited quantities of Ben & Jerry’s Coconut Seven Layer Bar Bulk and Chunkey Monkey Pint ice cream may contain undeclared tree nuts.
It’s no biggie for the average purchaser. It could prove to be dire if the product finds its way into the wrong mouth, of course.
The recalled product is Ben & Jerry’s Coconut Seven Layer Bar bulk product sold in a tub containing 2.4 gallons with a Consumer UPC of 076840104246 and best by date of SEP1520BJ4.

It’s also Ben & Jerry’s Chunky Monkey pint, sold in a 473 mL tub with a Consumer UPC of 076840100354 and best by dates of AUG2820BH2, AUG2920BH2, or AUG3020BH2
Consumers who have purchased the products are asked to “immediately discontinue use of the product, retain the outer container, and call 833-236-1237 for further information 24/7”.
What about cookies for dessert, then? You’re good to go, as long as they aren’t the Chips Ahoy 13 oz. kind.
On April 19th, Mondelēz Global LLC announced a limited voluntary recall in the United States of these delights.
According to the FDA, this was conducted because of “the potential for certain product to contain an unexpected solidified ingredient”.
The FDA says that reports of potential adverse health effects have been received.
