Amidst a sea of complaints that her eco-friendly Honest Company’s sunscreen isn’t effective, Jessica Alba has responded via Instagram.
In a post on her account today, the 34-year-old actress, businesswoman and mom of two said, “protecting our loved ones is the reason we founded [Honest.]”
Her post, which has already garnered over 84,000 likes and 500+ comments, links to the company’s website and mission statement: “As parents, it pains us to hear that anyone has had a negative experience with our Sunscreen … As with everything we do, we take sun protection seriously here at Honest.”
The big issue was – surprise – their sunscreen failed to protect against sunburn. Users of the product began posting pictures of themselves after catching some rays with Alba’s sunscreen. Every one of them had epic sunburns. One of the issues was removing over half the amount of zinc in the product (to 9%), while other sunscreens contain 18-25% of the element.
“For those who have expressed concerns about our Sunscreen Lotion, we want you to know that we hear you and we’re here for you. As always, we’ll do what it takes to make it right,” says the company’s statement.
