Is It Nail Fungus? Here’s How You Can Tell

If your nails are yellow, breaking and stinky, it’s likely they’re infected.

If your nails aren’t looking their best, we have good news for you: it could be fixable. The bad news is, you could have nail fungus.

It’s gross, but many of us have been there. How can you tell it’s fungus and not something else? Here are the telltale signs.

1) Your Nails Are Thick

We’re not talking thick as a brick, thick. But if your nails are discolored and substantially thicker than they once were, it could be a sign.

2) And Sort of Smelly

Smelly feet are a sign of bacteria. If you don’t have any of the other signs of nail fungus, it could simply be bacteria in your shoes rubbing off on your skin. But fungus on your nails can smell like any other fungus: funky.

3) They Have a Whitish-Yellowish Tinge

One of the easiest indicators of foot fungus is nails that are colored yellow. Their thick and brittle and kind of like mustard. By the time they are seriously discoloured, it can take months for them to return to normal once you start treating them

4) They’re Brittle and Imperfect in Shape

Nails infected with fungus aren’t strong. They can be slanted, ragged and otherwise ill-looking.
