Biography

Dr. Hurst achieved the American Board of Orthodontics Certification in 1987, a distinguished status earned by less than 18% of all orthodontists. He holds membership in the American Association of Orthodontics and serves on their editorial review committee. He received his dental degree from Indiana University and specialized in Orthodontics for two additional years at Harvard University in Boston. In 1971, Dr. Hurst was invited by the new LSU School of Dentistry to be a part of the original staff and developed the first orthodontic research program at LSU. At LSU Dr. Hurst formed a special medical school committee to deal with facial deformities, especially those of cleft lip and palate.
