Dr. Countess saw my son, and was actually very mean to him. I didn't appreciate his callousness when my son was his most vulnerable. I don't think he should see teenagers at all.

A flaccid and soulless coward with the heart of a rat.

My experience with Dr. Countess has been nothing short of transformative. My GP misdiagnosed me for close to a decade. Within one appointment with Countess, I have a very appropriate diagnosis and a wellness plan (meds and therapies). It's has been close to a year now of seeing him once a month (more, if needed) and I'm dang near a new woman! While I don't give him all the credit, he got me on the right track and I'm forever grateful.

He's very knowledgeable in CBT and other therapies that involve no medication. He's happy to help out with info and suggestions, and I get the sense that he truly cares.

I feel like I struck gold with Dr Countess.

I met Dr. Countess some years ago and was impressed by his kindness and thorough approach. I had reason to think of that approach recently and decided it was time to write a review. I am shocked at the negative reviews posted here, but shouldn't be I guess, since the internet seems to provoke some people to anger. This doctor will help you.

I found Dr Countess to be a very intelligent, empathetic man who helped me recognize some of the patterns that I have been struggling with and how to deal with them. I would recommend him to a friend for sure.

One of the top two psychiatrists I've ever had. Empathetic, cultivated, seems to understand me, encouraging, positive, great sense of humour, not inclined to over-prescribe or attribute everything to meds vs. no meds (has understanding of family dynamics and psychological causation). Re: The comments some have made re: female & "go out there and get a job", I felt very encouraged by the fact he kinda dissuaded me from trying to fill out a Disability Form. A) They're super-onerous on everyone involved, including the doctors, that they were not really written *for* unfortunately (I know a bit about this -- they came down thru legislation, and there's a bit of a disconnect btw what public servants are looking for on the forms and how MD's are trained to talk about disease) ... Anyhow, B) the flipside of his reluctance was also a genuine sense that I was capable of working, and to not let my bipolar or the stigma or my own self-esteem ruin my chances at a happy & productive life. He quoted examples of people he'd known with my condition who held down long-term jobs and had stable lives ... His pep-talks were helpful to me, and I am truly grateful.
Also, I just want to throw this in, about being "seen" clearly by him -- we talked philosophy and existentialism (if memory serves) -- there's a part about being "out there" that's just normal to him and part of being a thinking person. I appreciate that he recognizes against-the-grain thinkers himself, and hasn't -- like other psychs I've had the misfortune to meet -- chalked all of my mind up to my disease.
Thank you, Dr. Countess.

I saw Dr. Robert Countess when he was a resident at Victoria General Hospital in 2014. He was supervised by Dr. Sarah Pitcher. He seemed pleasant enough. I wished he had been more careful when writing his report about me as some of it were inaccurate. I was also prescribed Seroquel which is not suitable as I have hypothyroiditis. To this day, I continued to hallucinate.

Dr. Countess is an amazing Psychiatrist, the first one I have ever been to that didn't make me feel like I was seeing a Psychiatrist. He's very knowledgeable and easy to get along with. If you're struggling with any kind of anxiety, be it social or general he is among the best in the valley.
