I have been a patient of Dr. Kaler’s for 3 years now, and though she is rarely on time for appointments, I have always found her to be extremely helpful and efficient. In the past, it was difficult to get in touch with her new clinic, but that seems to have changed for the better lately. I appreciate her swiftness in making referrals to specialists as needed so I can get the care I need in a timely manner!

I was a patient of Dr. Kaler's for just over two years (I originally followed her from Bridgwater to her new clinic). She seemed nice enough early on, so I decided to stick with her since it was such a challenge to find a doctor. However, it didn't take long before I realized that she wasn't comfortable prescribing ADHD medications (that I had been on since I was a kid). She clearly only had textbook knowledge about ADHD and, as a result, made assumptions based on stereotypes. She frequently talked to me like I didn't know or understand my own challenges. I put up with it because I couldn't find another doctor, but I tried to avoid seeing her as much as I could. Then I had to go see her at the end of March 2023 because I was struggling with my mental and physical health due to working in a toxic work environment. This visit was my last with her because it was so traumatic for me. She assumed I was making things up all of a sudden because I'd never mentioned some of the issues I was facing before (though that wasn't entirely true and, to the extent it was, it was due to not being comfortable talking to her). In that last appointment with her, she jumped to the conclusion I must also have depression (without asking me ANY diagnostic questions or asking questions to ensure I wasn't a danger to myself). She immediately said I needed to go on anti-depressants. I explained I had tried them before, they didn't work, and they were so horrible to go off of last time. I said I was open to this down the road if that was absolutely necessary, but that I believed the source of the problem was my work environment and asked if she would support me going on a short medical/stress leave to give me some space to recover physically and mentally. She then said the insurance company wouldn't let me unless I followed her orders (i.e., take anti-depressants). Essentially Dr. Kaler tried to COERCE me into taking them rather than asking what I would do on a leave (my plans were things like seeing a psychologist and working on sleeping and eating properly again). I left the appointment almost dazed and sat in my car in the parking lot and sobbed for TWO HOURS. I also cried for much of the week that followed and could barely function. I have never felt so invalidated and treated like I was trying to play the system when I'm not this kind of person at all. As a result of this last visit, I had to see a psychologist to deal with the trauma I experienced. Not only that, the psychologist confirmed that burnout--an area she is an expert in--was what was causing what seemed like depression and she told me I should take at least 6 months off work it I could find a way to do so. After this, I started to pay to see a nurse practitioner since I had no other option and she was SO much better. The bottom line is that Dr. Kaler should NOT be allowed to treat any mental health issues at all. She has no idea how to uphold her oath to do no harm.

Does not understand mental health. Too quick to diagnose anxiety and depression without adequate information or asking any questions. Is borderline coercive with the expectation you take her word for it and take anti-depressants. Otherwise, she treats you like you are non-complaint even if you have a good reason (that she won’t listen to or will dismiss). Also, assumes you are trying to cheat the system despite being in demonstrable distress.

I've been seeing Dr Kaler for a little over a year now through the Bridgwater Medical Centre in Winnipeg. I cannot say enough good things about my experience with her. She's never judgmental, and always straightforward and professional but kind and sympathetic. She's dealt with my mental health and birth control meds with ease, and listened to me and actually took me seriously when i was having pain during sex. And she referred me to a pelvic floor physiotherapist based on a personal recommendation of her own experience, which i appreciated SO much. i sing her praises to everyone that's looking for an incredible doctor with a great bedside manner!

This doctor has limited knowledge of basic practices and will misdiagnose you.
She shoved an ear thermometer in my ear and accused me of having Covid, when that was not the case and I had zero symptoms. I feel she is racist against white people. That entire office can be racist against white people. She is mostly aggressive when alone in her closed door office and I feel she does not understand the English language.
The receptionist staff also uses abusive language towards white people in general. I have experienced it and I have also seen the mistreatment at the front desk from others. I beg you to not visit this doctor. Let's stand united, together and boycott the mean doctors in Winnipeg.

DO NOT get IUD with Dr. Kaler. Very painful, she scoffed at my discomfort and made a condescending comment about how it was because I had never given birth. I was extremely lightheaded after, but when staff came back into the room and saw I was there they told me to leave. Had to call a friend from the bus stop, was very disoriented and dizzy. Got my next IUD with OBGYN at a hospital and 100% recommended that route. They provided proper pain meds and monitored my vitals after and wouldn't allow me to leave until my heart rate was over 50 and I could walk without assistance.

New patient of this doctor at Bridgewater Medical Centre and I’m already convinced she’s one of the best and nicest doctors I have ever met. She is very knowledgeable, thorough, compassionate and does not try to push medications! Very pleased all around.
