Bedside manner is good and makes effort to help you feel comfortable. Explains which conditions are possible in your situation and which symptoms to consider or rule out. Provides information about over the counter options, surgery, diet, and non surgical options. I would have liked a phone pre-screening prior to my in-person appointment because I feel like most of the information could have been covered in a phone call and I should have gathered some things prior to the appointment that would have been helpful, but did not know about them until during the appointment.
This is not limited to this particular surgeon or situation, it seems to happen often that if you had tracked something for a long time or had images of something or measured something in a particular way, that information would be helpful. These are things that could be shared in a pre-screening phone call. Then they can be coached to make an appointment soon if symptoms are bad now and meet a certain threshold or gather information and make an appointment later when they have the relevant collection completed. This helps both parties, is more efficient, and gives patients knowledge about what information to bring. Education can also take place during pre-screening for basic topics.
Overall, I feel that this surgeon was present during the exam, focused on questions, tried to fully answer, and (for a surgeon) did not seem rushed and was pleasant. I would recommend to others. If you want to gather information prior to your appointment, be proactive and call ahead to find out what you could do ahead or bring that could help (tracking symptoms, images, measurements, or something else) during the appointment for your situation.
