I met with Dr Potter as a new patient this week. I was very pleased with his bedside manner. I have many years of clinical hospital experience and many years of pain management treatment for spinal arthritis and failed surgeries. Dr Potter appeared very knowledgeable and his suggestions for future procedures seemed promising. I look forward to having Dr Potter as my pain management physician.

The good reviews of Dr. Potter on this site are patients who just got lucky, or they’re fake to bring up this doctor’s rating. I have witnessed the treatment my family member (we’ll call him Matt) received and the tragic, near-deadly results of this doctor’s work about two years ago. I’ve considered writing this review many times over the last two years! Matt received an injection in his neck. He had received injections in his back and shoulder on prior occasions. He didn’t question the large amounts of blood all around his hospital gown after the injection, but would discover that something had gone very wrong. (I have spoken to family/ friends who received successful neck injections from other doctors and this is not normal.) His heart rate was at dangerous levels. This was only the beginning of his many physical problems to come. He was hospitalized for a week. He went back to Potter for help, only to find that he would not listen AT ALL. At one of Matt’s desperate visits over the next few weeks following the shot, actually begging the office staff and this doctor to help due to the shot in the neck, one of the nurses came in to coerce Matt into signing a paper saying that ‘he would be willing to receive another shot.’ Even after saying “No” twice, he signed it out of desperation and fear he would not be helped. Potter knew that he had messed up and was only covering himself. Almost NO DOCTORS in Corpus would listen to Matt about the symptoms following the shot. They would start to listen, but as soon as Dr.Potter’s notes would come in, they would change their attitudes toward Matt. (One finally helped, and he told Matt about how he cleans up Potter’s messes on a regular basis.) We discovered that Dr. Potter destroys patients in their records, if they complain or have problems with his treatment. Think about it...how easy is it to put all kinds of information about any patient in his records? (Ask for your record after every medical visit.) He prescribes pain meds. All he has to do is say a patient is an addict or apply any mental problem, and they will not be helped. Matt has never abused any prescriptions, and hates taking medications. He was an active person, with a physically active job. He is now getting all of his help outside of Corpus. Two years later...after quitting his job because he couldn’t work, after losing a great deal of money for medical help, after finally leaving Corpus for help since Potter destroyed him in his medical records...Matt is finally getting his life back - slowly. This story is not uncommon for Dr. Potter’s patients. Apparently, some of our friends already new this doctor was trouble, but didn’t realize Matt was seeing him, or they would have warned him. When Matt tells people in Corpus about what has happened, they ask if it was Dr. Potter. People know about this doctor and the damage he has done to many patients. We’ve heard many, many stories. I’ve been told that this doctor is extremely wealthy and can pay his way out of any potential legal problem that comes his way (and he has). God be with you, if you attempt a legal route to resolve an issue with him. How can you win, when he makes you look like a mental case in your medical records? Please take my advice seriously, or you could be next. There are other doctors. Congratulations to those patients who have made it out alive.

I had been seeing Dr. Potter for 6 years. Well, more like his nurses. Even after all these years the guy couldn't even remember my name. One time, after complaining about my pain, he had the nerve to tell me that I need to "tough it out." Not sure why he said that. I guess he thought I wasn't being "tough enough."

I have been a patient of Dr Potters since 2001 when he was the FIRST true Pain Mgmt specialist in region. Other highest rated MD was a physician Dr Potter brought to area. I have multiple spinal fusions & extensive body damage. Have been dealing w/ serious issues & the local medical system for many years. Dr Potter has a comprehensive practice including a certified outpatient surgical center. I trust Dr Potter & his well trained NPs. I have referred close friends to him, including my elderly mother. Something I rarely do. Every single 1 has been helped by the doctor.I have taken the time to find the best specialists in the other areas I need so it says a lot that I have stayed w/ this doctor for 10 yrs. Chronic pain is a difficult field. You will never be able to make everyone who comes, happy. My experience has been excellent as well as all those I referred there.

He saw me early on a Sunday morning to keep me from having to wait another 2 weeks. He has an excellent bedside manner, and was truly concerned about me condition. He was willing to take over where my previous doctor had left off, which is amazing in itself. If I could rate higher than 5 stars, he would be higher!

OK I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING BAD PAIN IN MY BACK AND LATLY MY NECK. WENT TO ER FOR NECK AND RECEIVED 2 SHOTS TO RELAX MUSCLES. BUT NO FOLLOW UP WENT TO MY PRIMARY DOC AND HAD MRI/XRAYS TAKEN. WAS REFERED TO DR ALEXANDER. THEN TO POTTER. LET ME SAY HE SAW ME IMMED. THEN RECOMMENDED SHOTS IN NECK TO RELEAVE PRESSURE.......I AM SORE BUT VERY HAPPY WITH RESULTS. 3 DAYS PAIN MANAGEABLE. I HAVE LIVED ON PAIN PILLS FOR 20 YEARS AND THIS GUY KNOWS HIS STUFF I WILL BE HAVING THE SAME INJECTIONS IN MY LOWER SPINE AND HIP REGION TO ALEVIATE PRESSURE POINTS AND BONE ON BONE SINSATIONS. nO DOC IS PERFECT OF IS A TREAT TO DEAL WITH. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS DOC AND HIS STAFF FOR WHAT THEY DO. THE MEDS I WAS PROVIDED WERE AN ALTERNITIVE TO WHAT I HAVE BEEN TAKING FOR 20 YEARS. IF YOUR IN PAIN GO TO A DOC THAT KNOWS WHAT TO PRESCRIBE AND IS NOT SCARED TO DO IT. (SKI)
