It's a pity that this web site does not offer "negative" stars... I hope the rumours are true that this incompetent jerk has retired since his diagnosis came close to killing my Father: we waited in the ER, thankfully told that the Dr. takes his time for dinner and often was late for his ER shift. Upon showing-up we explained Dad had shortness of breath, pain in his lungs so the Dr. listened to Father's heart with a stethoscope and told us he had indigestion which could be cleared with ginger ale. Never listened to Dad's lungs front or back despite the suggestion from us. We were with the Dr. for less than FOUR minutes when he waved us away...we went home. Father was very ill through the night having difficulty breathing. Early the next morning we went to a different hospital's ER. Seriously: TEN minutes later Father was diagnosed with a throat infection (streaks) and pneumonia in both lungs then admitted to hospital with an O2 supplement. Four hours later the lab proved both the throat infection and pneumonia. John Vanderkooy never even bothered to listen to my Father's lungs, never raised the possibility even when told of the progression of difficult breathing and pain. Want to see an image of this ignorant, low-grade individual? It should be opposite "uncaring, incompetent, ignorant fool" somewhere on the net hopefully. Be wise... Don't let him near you.

I miss Dr. Vanderkooy! When you complain, one should remember to be careful what you wish for. Dr. Vanderkooy is a kind, gentle doctor, who took the time to know not only his patient but their family. He was professional and brought my family much needed support in many many situations. The sad part of this story is that Dr Oyelowo does not even come close to "caring" nor has the knowledge that this man had. Nor does she want to, hopefully she will move on as she seems very unhappy here in Harriston.
Dr Vanderkooy..........hold your head high! We miss you!

Dr. Vanderkooy is an irresponsible doctor who may very well be responsible for the death of our grandmother. She experienced some concerning symptoms that she took to another doctor while Dr. Vanderkooy was away, and this other doctor ordered some tests to rule out colon cancer. Prior to doing these tests, our grandmother went to him for a follow up when he got back, and he looked at the tests and cancelled them because he said they were "unnecessary". A year later, our grandmother passed away of colon cancer. Had it not been for his irresponsible care and evindent ego, our grandmother could be alive today. It is because of a shy and well-meaning family that we have not proceeded with a lawsuit. But other patients, be warned and be persistent with this doctor if you feel like you need a more thorough analysis and definitely seek a second opinion.

Dr Vanderkooy has been my family doctor for my whole life. Unfortunately my family has been trying to switch doctors for 4 years because he put my sister on a high dose of anti depressants when she was 15, he failed to tell us that one of the side effects was suicidal thoughts and tendencies. as a result of the high dose of medication my sister tried committing suicide one month after starting the pills. and after knowing this he still recommended that she stay on them. needless to say my sister has not been back since.

Dr. Vanderkooy is a joke. I was on a waiting list for over a year to see a specialist, that another doc sent me to NOT HIM. He thinks he knows everything and needs no help from anybody. When I went to see him the week before my appt he told me to call and cancel and do not go. Like I was going to do that. Then my husband went in with broken ribs and he said he was fine. Didn't know he had x-ray vision, didn't even touch him. He will pump you full of drugs for a few weeks and then just stop giving them to you. No warning just will tell you no more.
