I just had an appointment with Dr. Rahaman and am very pleased with the outcome! Dr. R is extremely intelligent and knowledgeable about pain medication, and he seemed like a really nice fellow I liked him a lot, at first I felt a little nervous and unsure but he eventually made me feel more comfortable and trusting the more we talked and he talked with me for hours, explaining everything thoroughly which I really appreciated! He answered all my questions and made a point of helping me understand everything! Now I am on my way to a new pain management plan with a much more positive outlook!
Thank you Dr. R you are definitely a great asset in the pain management profession there should be more doctors like you with all of your caring, knowledge and understanding!

Went for a CAME exam, and he had all the bases covered in an afternoon.

I honestly don't think I'd be here without him. He has had my back from the first day we met. Super smart guy, knows the system. He is a bit cynical but who can blame him considering the province we live in. His staff suck except for his nurse whose really good. But the staff is more of a lifemark issue and not him. I have been seeing him for 7 years I have chronic pain and a ton of issues. I have been fighting the system for 16 years and he is one of the few I don't have to fight.

Arrogant, he made me feel 2 feet tall. I will never see him again. The first time I saw him, he was okay, but the second time, he made me feel like a drug addict, which is far from the truth. We didn’t even talk about how bad my pain is.

I had hopes that finding a pain specialist would change my quality of life but I found his knowledge of pharmacological options was limited and I ended up with the meds that I used to be on for years prior to seeing him anyway, and which I hoped to change because they are not working well. It was disappointing he didn't show any will to try and think about other options that are outside of the "catalogue" that he's used to. I found him arrogant and defensive when bringing up concerns and asking questions in a polite way. Comes across as a nice person but apparently only when everything goes according to his plan and patient has no expectations, otherwise you get to see a show of rudeness, attitude and an oversized ego. It's difficult to find a specialist especially when dealing with chronic pain and frustration, but sticking to this one just for the sake of having a "pain specialist" that "might help" was not worth my time and energy. A big disappointment .

He has been the only Dr who is supportive and understanding of my pain. I count myself lucky to have him in my corner.

I have had an appointment with Dr. Rahaman since I wrote my previous review. My pain hasn’t improved and I have complied with all of the tests he requested. I have been discharged as his patient based on the fact that I am still functional. I wonder if I asked too many questions?
Thankfully I have an amazing family doctor who has my back. I worry for those who don’t.

I am currently seeing Dr. Rahaman for pain management at Lifemark. I will say that he is the most knowledgeable doctor that I have seen. Despite this, I have not found him helpful and have found him to be very arrogant. My goal is to reduce my opioids while reducing my pain. Unfortunately I have had an increase in my pain. This is very inconvenient as I work and I am committed to my job. I expressed my concerns about my increased workload and my increased pain. I am looking for options that are not necessarily narcotic. The plan is to switch me to Suboxone which apparently is a weeklong process but gives patients a better outcome. Due to my work schedule I am not able to do this for the next three weeks. He offered me no additional strategies for managing my pain while staying at work until then. In addition to this, I feel as though he is treating me like someone who enjoys being on narcotics. If I did, I would not be seeking his help.
I should also mention that I am a quadriplegic. For understandable reasons he would like a urine toxs screen done. I explained to him that Due to logistics I am not able to complete this at the lab but I’m happy to look at an alternate way. He acted as though I was hiding something and was unwilling to facilitate the process for the test that he is requesting. He told me that figuring this out it is “my project”.
I was extremely hopeful that seeing him would be part of my solution however I have no confidence in someone who is that unwilling to help.

Ive been seeing Dr Rahaman for seven years possibly longer. He helped me when my family physician of 15 years over medicated me to the point I was so dizzy I was falling down stairs. He has taken the time over the years to review my situation and how I react to medications. He always listens to my opinions, my suggestions and what my in goals are for me. You'll take the time to explain to me why things won't work and why things will work. If he isn't aware of something which is rare you will take the time to look it up and get back to me. All Physicians should be as dedicated to their profession as Dr Rahaman.
