If I could give zero stars that would be more than he deserves. If you have to visit the VJH ER and he is the attending physician, you might as well just head back home because you can take better care of yourself there than he will in the hospital. It’s obvious he hates people and his job.

If this so called doctor is the attending physician at the VJH ER if you have a medical emergency - run, do not walk - run as far away from this "doctor" as fast as you possibly can. Hewitt will not help you. He will belittle you, ignore what you are saying, and refuse to treat you. As soon as he opens his mouth, it will be very clear that he hates his job, and, he hates you. Matthew Hewitt should never ever be allowed to practice medicine in an ER setting. He should never be allowed to practice medicine period. Hewitt is co owner of a downtown coffee shop. That is where he belongs. Slinging coffee and baked goods, where he can do no harm. Although, if I were you, I would not give this pathetic excuse of a human being a single dime. He deserves to be on the street.

Pretty arrogant Doctor, I think he figures that he is gods gift to the world and that maybe he somehow believes that passive aggression and professionalism is the same thing. He likes to also go against previous doctors recommendations for seeing specialists so I do not see how that helps anything. I suggest if you go to the emergency room and see he is working you turn around and go see another doctor if at all possible.

Brought my wife up to ER due to bad headaches and a bad earache. She was also feeling very dizzy. Dr Hewitt was a very helpful Dr ordering blood tests and sending her to imaging for a CT scan. Extremely busy up there but he was kind and answered all of our questions thank you.

I’m utterly appalled at the way this doctor treated my husband! He was seen in the Vernon ER and this dr basically told him to go home as you left against medical advice so what do you want me to do for you know? I can understand the frustration staff and drs feel towards a patient that leaves ama, but people get scared when they get a diagnosis that is not what they expected, but when they come back before 24 hours is up and ask to be admitted, show some compassion! This man has been an upstanding member of the community for a lot of years in a profession that demands as much respect as being a dr! The first ER dr told my husband what treatment he thought was best and my husband asked to be admitted and clearly stated he understood what he needed to do to be able to be treated for his condition. When I stated that the previous dr suggested my husband be admitted for the treatment, he rudely told me “I read the report” and that was when he told my husband that he could do the treatment at home. I was shocked at this drs lack of compassion and he was rude and acted like we were wasting his time! I’m glad my husband insisted he wanted to be admitted in accordance with the first drs opinion as his treatment would not have had the success it did! This dr should be sent back to university for a course on compassion. I’m sure he won’t read these comments as he’s to arrogant to think there would be anything he would need to improve on!!

If I could give less than 1 star I certainly would. He reeks of immense privilege with zero empathy or compassion for patients. He basically confirmed my disease but straight up said “don’t know what to do about that” and shrugged. Seems to be a common theme that he doesn’t have a lot of knowledge nor care. I guarantee patients have lost their lives because of physicians like this. He needs to retire…on our dollar naturally

In ER being assessed for possible stroke. This Dr came in and looked at me as if i ruined his coffee break. I had mentioned i felt extremely fatigued. His reply' How do you think i feel'?
Zero compassion this man has. How he is practicing is beyond belief. I feel he would do better in the prison doing the assessments on prisoners.

I can’t rate his knowledge because he didn’t talk to me. He was visibly annoyed to be there. He didn’t assess me, he refused request for me to ask questions and slammed door on me. Very unprofessional. I’m requesting my medical records to see if he falsified charting. He didn’t assess me or check anything so any charting would be a lie. I am a flight paramedic and know he is negligent.obviously hates people and his job.

This is the second time that a loved one had to deal with this horrible excuse for a doctor☹️rude obnoxious horrible human being. Reading the other reviews , I have to say that something needs to be done about this situation. Please remove this doctor from practising and do it immediately!! He is completely incompetent and needs an attitude adjustment. No compassion for anyone including my husband who had terminal cancer and walked out of the emergency ward after being treated like he was wasting this doctor’s time😞now my elderly mom was treated the same awful way last weekend by the same doctor😞

If he wasn't so utterly incompetent, arrogant, ridiculous, self entitled and potentially harmful to the health of er patients I wouldn't waste time writing a review. Since he still has a job it appears neither he nor hospital officials read these reviews or just don't care. He is and embarrassment to the profession.
I was brought into er by ambulance in excrucuating pain and distress after a significant fall on concrete. X-rays showed a broken shoulder. At no time did he conduct any physical examination of my arm. He never approached me at all, didn't look at my arm but did belittle the amount of pain I was suffering. He stood at the doorway, told me there was nothing for him to do, I'd see a
surgeon in a week and that I should see my family doctor for pain medication as he couldn't prescribe any because he forgot to order prescription pads! Its true, he is really that pathetic and idiotic to say that and to think it was believed.
The next day I went to my family doctor who found I also had a broken elbow that needed to be casted and stabilized immediately until surgery. He was appalled at the unnecessary suffering I had had to endure.
I went back to er to get the casting and to my horror he walks in! On learning he missed diagnosing, he didn't even try to diagnose it, the broken elbow, he turned his back, walked away with a wave of his hand saying oh well, sorry about that.
I believe this speaks for itself. It will be sweet justice if he gets a doctor just like himself whenever he needs treatment. I use the title of doctor loosely in regards to him because he is as far from being a doctor that I can imagine.
